No, they didn't. They deliberately tried not to score on their last drive.  I don't know if Coughlin has literally gone senile, but that type of behavior does not deserve to be rewarded.

I shall revise my statement: neither team deserved to win. That is a pretty stupid coaching decision.

@Rol: Yes. Their strong display of suckiness was outmatched by Dallas' strong display of suckiness.

Apparently, down syndrom ELI was was busy marveling over his shiny new 4 year contract during the final drive of the game and TOLD Jennings not to score on 1st and 2nd down. Like the rest of Giants offense, I have no idea what happened on third down.

Come on, even Coughlin admitted that Romo and his teammates went through the Giants defense like a hot knife through butter. The Cowboys scored touchdowns when it mattered while the Giants couldn't or didn't want to.

I guess you could say I have a different way of looking at it. Yes the Cowboys absolutely plowed over the Giants in the stats department and they should have won, but I just don't think they deserved to win because of the sloppy ball-handling, WR drops, avoidable penalties and interceptions. I expected them to win, but I look at the sloppy play and the errors and I feel as though they did not deserve the victory.

You are quite the rebel. You'll probably pick against the Packers in week 2.

I'll do it for a shout out in the thread title. Is it too early to submit next week's predictions?

It is, alas, a very common genetic defect, but I for one am hopeful that Eli will someday overcome it enough to at least count to three. In the meantime, his coach is happy to disown Eli's actions, and to tell the whole world that he not only wanted to go up ten, but that it's Eli who was "confused" by the number of timeouts had left. No idea what effect getting pushed under a bus has on neurological conditions, but I suspect it's less than wholly positive.

I am not going to reward you for bad behavior.

The table for week 2 is already up.

Duly noted. Probably going to do it anyway so Senpai notices me. Stay tuned

*edit* nvm, a few of those matchups are closer than I realized. I'm taking leave to ponder these games over a nice glass of turnip juice

The Giants team and fans need to move on from last nights game and focus on next week. The media witch hunt that is going on in New York right now is ridiculous. Whether Eli or the coaching staff is responsible for the last plays of the final drive is irrelevant at this point (QB's and coaches goof sometimes believe it or not). They should be focusing on what worked last night (The defense, other than final drive XP) and what didn't (The offense was terrible). The defense was pretty solid most of the game (Thanks Spags!!!) considering all the injuries and lack of key players (JPP, no safeties). On the other hand the offense needs work and the Giants OL needs to figure out someway to give Eli more then 1.5 seconds in the pocket each play.... Hopefully with some OL reshuffling and the inclusion of Cruz in the coming weeks the offense will get moving.

Despite the horrible ending to last nights game the Giants didn't look too bad. Really hoping this loss doesn't hurt the team mentally moving forward, because looking at there schedule I can really see them going 10-6 or 11-5. But hey this is just coming from the resident Giants fanboy here so maybe I'm being too optimistic XP!!!

^^ True. Dallas opened with SF last year and lost with a terribly sloppy game, then went on to 12-4.

I mark a lot of both teams issues to first-week jitters. Seldom do you see any team come into week 1 firing on all cylinders. Even the Patriots and Steelers, which are both very well respected organizations in terms of coaching quality, looked pretty damned sloppy a lot of their showdown in weird ways.

Dallas and NYG will have some work to do, but they both have tons of fundamental talent to work with along with injury/availability issues. Hopefully sooner than later we get to see the best that each team can do on the field!
