Are you really trying to imply that DC wasn't graphically impressive?

I think when you're trying to hype up a 30fps racer with less cars, no open world, 2 x MS AA and no splitscreen compared to what else is on market as some kind of technical benchmark, it would need to look at least 2 x better then driveclub. It doesn't really have strong texturing or ansitropic filtering either.

The weather effects in particular were outright stunning.

And they weren't there for some months.....I played PGR4 7 years ago which also had weather. For such a long amount of time, the "improvement" is small.

DerNebel said:

Stop dodging, you suggested that Driveclub graphically looks worse than PGR4, a statement that on no level is even remotely explanable by anything but an extremely unhealthy bias.

Not really. I could be unbiased and simply say that it doesn't look particularly next-gen and that a 7 year old game with a vastly better feature set (which are quite technically demanding) is it's closest visual contempory.

And that would be complete bullshit, you've said some pretty ridiculous things in your short time on this site but this is just on a whole nother level of aggravatingly biased and stupid crap. Go ahead, go into the Xbox Republic thread and make that statement there and even then you won't find people agreeing with you, nobody around here is so completely lost in this console war bullshit to say something as entirely senseless as this. You can talk about features all day long to spin your argument but nothing in this world will make this even look remotely as good as this extremely next-gen looking game or make this weather look even close to as good as this does.

Assuming you aren't an alt you shouldn't get this but you're like a new Zero just for Xbox.

In that interview, he is talking about the first party support for this year. But when you think about it, it's sequels of the four titles they were mocked for for constantly having on xbox 360. The fables, the halos, the gears and the forzas. Yes they need to make those four, but they severely lack in first party prowess, it just doesn't seem like the studios are given the freedom to create what they want. 343 is now gonna be a halo factory, and black tusk were working on a new ip and have had to scrap that for gears. Where are the titles that actually give a reason why this console is better than the 360 when the 360 was released.

There aren't any.  Xbox always was and will be a Halo-Gear-Fable-Forza factory.  Everything else is on PC, and hell even Fable is on PC.

And that was the Don Mattrick way. So I am hoping Phil Spencer changes things. But I haven't seen anything that I didn't already exect so far in the year and half of Phils reign.

Instead I see a lot of words and promises that so far just havent been lived up to. That's why I initially said he should walk the walk before talking the talk.

Guerrilla the killzone studio are now making horizon. Media molecule the Littlebigplanet studio are now making Dreams. Gerilla cambridge, a studio who have pretty much focused on other peoples ip's are now making their own VR ip. Sony have this to boast.

How is Sony supposed to levy a broad porfolio, by Killing off Killzone and LBP? You can say they're new IP, but you should not bring up the former if they're being discontinued.

fireburn95 said:

I want a fresh new ip that screams "GET AN XBOX NOW" rather than "THESE ARE SEQUELS TO XBOX 360 GAMES, ALL OF THEM, just get em when they're cheaper"

Well i'm guessing Until Dawn, MLB15 and The Order are not that on PS4. Bloodborne might be, but as its just a game that plays exactly like Demons Souls from the same developer of Demon Souls im wondering if that's more to do with the metascore then being new and original.

fireburn95 said:

And by the way, we both know sony never cram there games in one holiday.

That's their intention though. The Order was due last holiday, it got delayed. Had it arrived on time, you'd be looking at 12 months with Just Bloodborne, Until Dawn and MLB. That's incredibly anemic.

fireburn95 said:

And by the way, we both know sony never cram there games in one holiday. Xb1 hasnt had a single retail exclusive this year. Not one. Sony have had three (or four I forget).

And yet we're looking at 4 retail games between now and november on XB1 release by MS. Not really sure I see the difference between the PS4 blowing it's load and having nothing for the the second half of the year vs. MS only releasing stuff round the holidays.

I look forward to QB, Scalebound, and Crackdown at Gamescom. Please announced the Halo 5 Xbox One edition. Also Fallout 4 X1 edition is also another bundle I would like to see.

And they weren't there for some months.....I played PGR4 7 years ago which also had weather. For such a long amount of time, the "improvement" is small. Realistically speaking. If MS were to re-release PGR4 in 1080p and that were the only change, it would certainly be a very close race visually. PGRs free roam and split-screen would make it a shoe-in for the technical side.

-snip-

I don't think that's really relevant here. The weather effects could have only just come out this week and they'd still, to me at least, represent one of the biggest visual achievements of this gen so far. That those effects were accomplished on top of an already very well polished game is something i consider impressive (regardless to the quality of the game itself).

As for the latter, that just makes me assume you have a somewhat limited understanding of game tech (thus debating it would be somewhat pointless, so i won't). To be honest i find it hard to understand how anyone could believe that even without a proper (or at least decent) understanding of game tech, but each to their own i suppose ^^.

Honestly, the city stuff in PGR looks so much better.  The fact that PGR4 is an early 360 game makes it even more impressive. Had they iterated upon it like Forza, who knows how good it would have gotten.

So what was your problem with his statement then? He is correct that they cannot pay for third party exclusivity going forward because it is cost prohibitive and developers are more likely than not asking for larger sums of money to do so. It's that simple. Take my example of Batman AK. The PS4 version is reportedly selling roughly three times the number of copies of the XB1 version. Could WB afford to forgo those sales for an upfront payment from MS? And would it make good business sense for MS to pay enough to make it worth it? Doubtful. It's dollars and cents here.

I'm talking AAA first party titles which pretty much consists of Halo/Forza and Gears of War. Plus, we are discussing current events and right now MS's first party lineup is woefully incapacious. Granted, those are great franchises but they could use more and have the necessary resource to stand up/buy new studios to continue to create new ip. Look at MS 'best first party lineup ever;' Halo 5, GoW 4 and Forza 6.

Besides, when was the last time XBox Live arcade was actually  great? It'd be nice if MS got back to that as well but they seemed to lose that focus years ago. But not really germaine to the topic.

-MS 1st party is woefully incapacious but what about the competition's? Until Bloodborne, none of the AAA set the world on fire. Even the latter didn't sell enough to be considered a blockbuster.
-Xbox best line up ever is not what you convinently mentioned to fit you view. Let me remind you what within the next 18-20 months Xbox lineup will be approximately:

-Forza 6 and possibly Forza Horizon 3 in 2016

-Recore/Scalebound/Sea of Thieves/Quantum Break, I can tell you that none of those are Halo, Gears and Forza. All new IPs

-Halo 5, the most ambitious take on any modern FPS campaign

-Fable Legends

-ROTR

-Crackdown

How can you guys even downplay this?

Crackdown? Lol come on bro.

Lets see how they all turn out. I'm so hyped for gamescom and my xbox backlog is getting fairly large.

How about you stick to actual gameplay like I did instead of pre release promotional screenshots and gifs obviously not made from gameplay...oh wait that would mean being honest, sorry I forgot that you can't do that.

Uh, that's gameplay. It's from the intro video for PGR4, which was a composition of gameplay and replays. That happens to be bumpercam during gameplay

Betters?
