...Seriously?

I could care less about changes to something like the OST, but changing a main element in gameplay makes no sense.

Well, they change the gameplay drastically from nearly every entry to the next, so why would people even expect this to be otherwise? It's a remake of the game, not just the same game with prettier graphics, hence FF VII Remake.

Yeah, remake as in they are supposed to redo a game that was actually good. If people want action games then they can play Squares shitty new games instead like FFXV.

I cant tell if you're being serious or trolling lol

whats wrong with the combat in 15? hope you aren't one of those YouTube gamers that seem to forget that gaming is about first hand experience.

15 is great, but it's a different style.

A different style of game isn't very exciting if people are wanting to relive their childhood by playing their favorite game.

Remake is made for those wanting to relive their childhood, and thank God. You want to relive your childhood? Then play the PS1 version which is widely available. Why would a remake of a classic be used to enjoy something from that past? Just use ghe orginal. Remake is for those who want to see what said classic would be like in the modern world, for those who want to experience the old in something new.

If dramatic changes means giving the characters combat identity I'm all for it.
By the end of the game the only thing that differentiated them were the limit breaks.

That because the materia system was suppose to let build your characters the way you wanted, but I too am for more combat identity.

How can you make a remake and alter dramatically the core gameplay of the game? It makes absolutely no sense. Oh, fuck modern gaming, FFS!

Not when it comes to RPGs, no. One user somewhere round here has a sig that says 'if it's not turn based then it's usually not worth playing', or something like that, which I fully agree with.

Lol come on. Thats a rather naive way to look at it. Besides FFXV isn't even out yet.

No, it isn't. Remakes are for fans of the original. That's the primary audience, or at least should be. For anyone else it's no different from just making a brand new game, so why don't they do that for those people instead.

Nope!, especially within game industry. Remakes are used to intoduce NEW gamers/audiences to world classics, not to suck your dick ka pi

Let's not forget how many "fans" of games have never actually played the games themselves.  We're in an era where people like my sister are fans of Persona because they watched 9000 let's plays that covered the entire game.

It makes a lot of sense betraying a combat system which was the heart and soul of FFVII for the remake. Yep. Why not introduce new gamers some "old" ways to play? And give fans of the game what they actually want?

EDIT: Fuck, I'm so angry right now, you can't mess with one of my favourite games ever, SE.
