Great announcements now might just have to get a 3ds and ps4 if all these dq games make it west.

Dragon Quest is the mother of all turn-based JRPGs and it has to this day always stayed very oldschool in that regard.

Yeah, I don't see that changing for this iteration, I'm just happy they're doing away with random battles and instead are putting the enemies on the map.

isnt it amazing that the first thing i see when i come back to this site is some fucking fanboy behavior shit? even in the threads title... hence why im so active on this forum as of late...

anyway to the OP, ive never played a DQ game in my life but i will pay some close attention to this one and see if i can get behind the hype of this games.

Yeah, nothing says new game in a franchise like changing the very way the gameplay works.

You can't change the game scope and let the old gameplay restrictions.

Turn based is nice on 2D (or even 3D chibi that reminds 2D) cause on 2D that was the best you could do for a RPG.

A open 3D world though, you can just allow the player to do so much more,so why keep the 2D limitations?

FFX was a good game.


not it was not! i was at best,average but since people first played when they were kids/pre-teens,it gets a free nostagia pass that other games like FF13 don't.

Sadly for me, no. I prefer 6-9 and 12 over it. X-2 had better gameplay but worse story. It's a good game. Just not as great as the others.

I first played FFX when I was 20. FFX was a good game, wasn't as good as other FF games but it was good. FF13 wasn't good (for a FF game, I expect better). 13 was about a 7/10 for me, FFX and X-2 being 8s, FF6 - 9 and 12 being 10s.
