What about Wii software, Bod? Does it sell? Only first party titles or third parties sell well too?

That's a really tough question for me: the answer is yes, for me, and the uptake in Wii software over Christmas has been exceptional, even exceeding the interest for hardware. I think it's apparent that some people bought Wiis for Christmas a few months ago, and are coming back to buy games for it now.

With that said, the overall picture is a bit warped. The buy 2, get 1 free sale really messes up any serious estimations I can make on this subject; we sold hundreds if not thousands of games in my store alone over those three days, and it sounds like virtually every other TRU in my area had the same problem. As I said, I was literally out of 70 of my 90 games on the Wii for some time. Even Nicktoons games, even Dogz and Horsez, even Cabela's Big Game Hunter.

But today I sold virtually none; I'd say the average attach rate to the Wiis I sold this morning was .5. However, it was very apparent that many of these people were selling the systems on Ebay (ugh), and the people who were keeping it for themselves had a meager selection; we're out of Zelda, Resident Evil, Super Mario Galaxy, Mario Party... honestly, the three good games we have in ri ght now are Trauma Center, Metroid, and Medal of Honor: Heroes. None of the other games that scored above a  75 on metacritic are in stock right now. So even for the people looking.. there wasn't much.

In short, the few days of the sale were ridiculous, the other days have been poor; of course, we have had almost no games in to sell to people, but that's poor sales all the same.

Nice job Bod. I almost want to witness a totally clueless customer come up and ask you "Which system should I buy?"

You can pretty much say "Well, I happen to be quite possibly the most informed TRU employee in the state on matters of the console wars..." XD

so does that mean toys r us get some in every sunday or every other sunday?

 Welcome to VGchartz sdfa =P

Beware Soriku and LeoJ (I swear there is something between them) don't support ferrari in the F1 and watch out for the intense amount of subtle sarcasm that coats this board and you will be fine.

Oh and as a matter of tradition, your GBallzack, aren't you?

It had been every other Sunday, or even every three Sundays, but now it's every Sunday.

So while this shipment was annoyingly small, the simple fact that we're getting them every week already represents a 100-150 percent increase in shipments. Not to mention the 100+ we got last week, and the very large shipments we're scheduled to get in the next two weeks. Overall, we're still looking at about a 300 percent inrease in shipments when you combine the last two weeks (200ish sold) and the next upcoming two weeks. Once shipment information becomes available for the heart of December, I'll let you guys know the general stuff (as in, are shipments staying elevated? Is it inreasing even more?)

Bod, any idea what the largest shipment of Wii's will be this year? I know you got 120ish in right before the Buy 2 Get 1 sale. Are there going to be any weeks where Wii stock will reach 250-300ish?

At the moment, my store doesn't have a shpiment like that, but there is a Best Buy in Saint Louis that is getting a shipment that big, apparently. Next Sunday, to be specific.

Our next large shipment is two weeks from now. In reality, we'll get Wiis this Wednesday, and then put them up piecemeal: the larger portion goes up two weeks from today.

Your numbers seem incredibly high for Wiis (not that I'm doubting you, it's just surprising how much stock Toys 'R Us is getting of a supply limited item). For example lets assume Wal-Mart stores get the same number of Wiis as Toys 'R Us (I'd expect Wal-Mart to get at least as many considering their buying power). Then in the last two weeks alone Walmart and Toys 'R Us would have sold 790,600 (assuming every store is like yours). Keep in mind that number includes no other stores in the U.S.

I'd be interested to know how you calculated those figures!

The first thing to know is that not every store is like mine: my Toys R Us, for example, is one of if not the biggest in the Midwest.

The second is that your base assumption is false: Best Buy, for example, has their large shipment coming next week, but didn't have a large shipment last week, so the bursts are coming at different times for different retail chains.

Still, yes, generally, shipments are much larger than they were before. I think estimations you're making are too optimistic, but I think there is a clear increase in supply overall.

@Legend11.
With the Wiis would buying power matter? When you have an item in demand its the selling power that would matter more wouldn't it?

In which case TRU have the perfect demographics to sell the most Wiis
