I went to Walmart this morning as it right by my work, I was surprise it was not crowded.   Granted all the really crazy door buster deals are gone but most other deal are still to be have.

They sold out of all the 80gb PS3 , but still have some 40gb left.  I saw only 2 Xbox360 Arcade, and found out from a lady purchasing one that you get $50.00 gift card back.  The Arcade was feature in the ad for regular price but as "limited offer" so I guess they kinda left out the $50.00 gift card incentive.   (Essentially 360 for $229)  Another lady heard the comment and quickly grab the last Arcade unit.

They have plenty of Rockband for 360 left when I was there, I noticed aside from video game system, the big ticket item were not moving well at Wal-mart (the price are good but not great) only small items are moving.

I remember Black Friday from several years ago, I can't barely get into the store.

Since I worked last night I didn't really have time to check other stores.  I want to go to Best Buy but was just too tired.

@Bod
So you didn't sell any Wiis? Oh well. One would have thought that black friday would have been the ideal day to have some in stock , as well as loads of games. I actually thought that your TRU would stock up again.

I know Wal-mart has been running a number of sales prior to BF and are planning others after, so perhaps they are spreading their sales over a couple a weeks to make things more manageable.

 As I've said, the Wiis we originally had set aside for today were partly sold last Sunday and partly held for this Sunday.

Upper Management decided Wiis today could provoke violence, and decided to put none on the shelves at all to avoid pushing/shoving.

I don't think people who live outside the US truly understand what Black Friday is: it's insanity. It's like every store got in 500 Wiis.

Here's the Boise, Idaho Mall opening at 1 AM yesterday. This should give you an idea what it's like.

My Toys R Us has a standard, Wal-Mart esque parking lot. You know the typical parking lot for a Target or Wal Mart? They're pretty big. It was completely filled up by 4 AM for a 5 AM opening. Every single space was taken, so I had to go to the back to park

My store has 14 registers; during a typical weekday in the summer, we have 2 of these open. This morning, not only were all 14 open, but we had 4 people whose job it was to make sure that no line was slowed down; if any cashier had a problem, these people made sure the cashiers absolutely did not stop checking people out, for even one second. As a cashier, you cannot go to the bathroom. You are allowed to have water at your register for that day only. All 14 registers must be running as effeciently and as quickly as possible, and they absolutely must not stop. Every minute that things are held up is lost money.

It works erratically. It worked 1 in 5 times for me.

It's working for me :(

Keep in mind that this is 1 AM. Middle of the night. My store opened at 5 AM. As I said, almost none of this craziness is for video games, because video game hardware is one of the few things you can't put many sales on.

Instead, I just wanted to show how crazy the day is, and when you do have a sale on a product, it sells out instantly. When you don't, it sells just a bit better than it would any other day of the year. Thus, my PS2s evaporated after selling a moderate and steady pace for the last few months, while my 360/PS3 saw only a moderate uptake in sales.

It's hard to understand what Black Friday is outside of America. Basically on the day after thanksgiving every year stores put things on sale from 5AM to Noon and say "have at it." Costumers (us) then get up crazy early to wait in line to get these deals because the stores usually sell out of every single one of them. Most of it is Xmas shopping.

Basically, Black Friday is the most insane day of the year and in 7 hours people will have purchased more products from stores than the stores usually sell in a whole month. It gets crazier every year and it's an odd American tradition, but one that's very beneficial to consumers.
