we wouldnt need to have that if developers could actually finish games before launching them and decided to embrace larger formats. really, Blue Ray holds 25 GB and simple SD cards can hold up to 128 GB. i think its time to switch

Sony got their ass kicked with a new format last gen. People aren't willing to put up with a high price tag for a new disc format otherwise we would have HVD by now. SD cards will bring the price up to. Publishers already don't want to spend the extra cents on a second blu-ray disc (50Gb per disc btw) and rather have you download the rest. Most don't even want to add a 4 page manual in the box...

Huge games happened. People asked for them, and Sony and Microsoft just gave it to them. And since most of us want the game by the deadline, sometimes they can't keep up with the bugs. So they update the game a lot for it to run better. It sucks, I know. But that's the way it is.

It's frustrating, but unavoidable. Nowadays I don't expect to play a new game immediately after putting it in. What pisses me off is how much Sony boasted about how disgustingly quick game installs are on PS4 - also play while downloading! - but that's completely and utterly pointless when you gotta wait for a 2-6 GB update to download before playing.

Hey, at least most WiiU games still turn on the classic way :P

It's annoying, but not really that big of an issue for me..

That's why PS2 is my fav console - games are fun and look good yet they are simple enough, everything always works 100%. No patches, no DLC bs, no tower unlocking in games.

My Ebay store

Deus Ex (2000) - a game that pushes the boundaries of what the video game medium is capable of to a degree unmatched to this very day.

this has been a huge turnoff since i got my PS3. I don't play it that often anymore and every time i turn it on there is so much crap to download it just pisses me off so i don't turn it on. I was so mad when i rented dead rising 2 to play co-op with my friend, and the download took so freakin long i didn't even get to play it that night completely eliminating the point of renting it. I'm not kidding when i say i play my N64 a lot lately.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

This is the price of better graphics in more complicated games. Bigger games equal bigger download times.

I don't have that problem but I wish they would put on the cd the update after a while, that way people with slow Internet don't get screwed into waiting for days just to enjoy their games. Now they only put the updates on the disk if it's a goty edition with all the expansions and dlc crap.

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

Blame certain game developers for making the games that way.

for example, I don't remember installing anything when playing the Uncharted series (physical copies). We'll see what happens in Uncharted 4.
