Forums - Gaming - Another victory for Lizard Squad - Daybreak CEO resigns

Daybreak Games CEO John Smedley is retiring from the top job at the studio he helped establish.

SoE was hit hard by Lizard Squad’s DDoS activities, but Smedley was also personally affected by Lizard Squad’s activities when his plane was grounded by a bomb threat. He was also allegedly the target of various other forms of harassment, some of them quite serious. Smedley threatened to personally sue, saying he was “coming for” Kivimaki. Lizard Squad responded with more attacks on Daybreak titles.

Of course, the two things might not be connected at all, but the timing is very odd.

Governments are going to have to get a lot more serious about combatting this sort of thing... It certainly isn't going away.

Honestly what did he expect? He was fired no doubt.

I think so as well. I doubt that the owners appreciated all the negative press.

I am, however, afraid that this along with very lenient punishments for online criminals will just give LS and others more confidence to continue doing what they are doing.

Is it really so hard to track down those losers and arrest them for affecting companies the way they do? So far it seems the police arent doing shit about them

It would also seem that some countries don't even punish the guys when they're caught. This is a far bigger problem than some crimes we prosecute with almost reckless abandon.

A thought occurs: There's a pretty dang good chance that a lot of men in positions of power are among the 37 million users of Ashleymadison... Perhaps that will put the fear of scorned women in them and get them moving on this? :p
