Forums - Sony - No Man's Sky: How The Universe Works (MUST SEE)

Instead of breaking the barrier by adding humans to the game, create an AI that can learn how to adapt and never tell them that we exist. Release a few of those advanced bots and fill the rest of the universe with low level AI and lets see how it goes.

It's kind of telling when gamers' expectations rise to the level of developers needing to release Turing machines in procedurally generated galaxies. Anyways... I'm sure there will be a share of surprises when it comes out. Not to mention players here and there finding very interesting things created by the algorithms. Like genital-shaped continents or panoramas ressembling something on real life...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7K6t77a9Rw0 I'd say this is going to be inevitable with this game.

I'm hoping this game has more depth than what I've seen so far, exploring is fun for a moment, if there's no combat, construction or survival elements I don't see this being much better than Spore was.

They already showed it has combat in space and on the surface and also has crafting.  As for survival, not sure on that.  Seems to have a dash of Metroid to it in that you have to upgrade your suit to survive or effectively move about on some planets due to their atmosphere or other environmental aspects.

One thing that excites me a lot about this game is the implications of the technology. Imagine a SciFi MMO that combines the procedural generation and hand crafted levels to create an entire planet to adventure in. Like Destiny but instead of some dinky region in Russia you battle The Darkness across the entirety of planet Earth and the other planets of the solar system.

Exactly, the potential of this tech is huge. I really hope this sort of tech takes off and we see more games making use of this type of procedural generation.

I can't wait for this game. All of these vids and info are only making me want this game more.
