I don't care why Sony didn't allow it (there is probably more behind this than meets the btw., why is the service not on PC for example?), I only care about the possible future this might start where all publishers have subscription services like this and lock actual game content behind it to get more people to subscribe, which I personally find to be a horrible scenario (and look at the other shit publishers have been doing in the last years to get money from people before you say that this wouldn't happen).

Also the main appeal to PS+ is online play, so EA Access doesn't really interfere with that at all.

What features do EA Access bar non subscribers from?

I understand your concern but all you're stating are preemptive ideas to shut down a service based on your fears.

Just take a quick look at what happen the last 10 years, and his fears is understandable. That's actually the most likely outcome of this,if EA Access succeed.

And you think Sony was worried about it's implications and that's why they didn't allow it?

It would compete with their PS+ rental service and they didn't want to lose subscriptions...

yeah because people rather would play Battlefield offline?

Not every game has to be played online.

If it succeeds, Ubisoft, Activision, Square Enix, Bethesda and others will do the same and soon/next gen, we will have to pay 20-30 dollars a month to play the "full experience" of all our games (DLC, multiplayer, release date... anything can be included). Playstation players have the right to doubt IMO... XBox players payed to play online without saying anything and now we need to pay too, because it's "normal". Even Nintendo does DLCs now because it became "normal" in the industry. If we accept anything, then our industry can become anything.

It's great.

Not because it's normal but good infrastructure is expensive. And no, other companies don't have that much games and that much good games to justify such a service. Again, let the market decide. It is not up to being "different people". There is no disctinction in people that makes them PS players or Xbox players. There are even people who own both consoles.

I'm not sure how anyone can say EA access is bad. Its $2.50 a month to play free games and get early access. And even if you don't want it, its always nice to have the option of getting it rather than having no options at all. Personally, I like the service and I hope Ubisoft and Square Enix offer similar services.

Because of its possible implication, pretty sure we went through this already.

Hello PSNow. Now I see why Sony didn't "see" enough value - they want to sell their own subscription in a few years :)

You just described what every Battlefront has ever been.

Prediction for console Lifetime sales:

Wii:100-120 million, PS3:80-110 million, 360:70-100 million

[Prediction Made 11/5/2009]

3DS: 65m, PSV: 22m, Wii U: 18-22m, PS4: 80-120m, X1: 35-55m

I gauruntee the PS5 comes out after only 5-6 years after the launch of the PS4.

I don't know if you've played Battlefield and Battlefront I or II but the two are rather different.

*edit* If you're referring back to Battlefield1942 then I'd agree they're similar, though the look and feel are quite different and Battlefront included some extra features and gameplay modes. There's very little in common between the newer Battlefields and Battlefront I & II.

Where's the bad lol? I spend close to $700 on new games a year. I'd spend less and have more with the way EA Access is setup. Where you getting this extreme $20-30 a month from?

I didn't say i am for this. I personally hope EA Access will never succeed, because then we have that situation you explain here. The sad thing,is that most people don't seem to get that.

Yes, god forbid Activision, Ubisoft or Bethesda decided to follow suit and offered 12+ games, 10% off along with early access for $2.50 a month!  That would be horrible!  I would have to spend upwards of $10 a month for 50+ games!

PSNow, on the other hand, allows me to stream 8 year old games, with terrible input lags, straight to my PS4 or other approved device for just $20 a month!  Lets all support Sony on this so the future of gaming doesn't involve hardware in the house, rather a monthly subscription to play all our games!

You people are hilarious (and extremely hypocritical).  You would defend Sony no matter what they decided for us.  I would love to have the OPTION to sign up for EA Access.  But when I think about it I guess you're right, it's good that Sony made the choice for me and I'll support that so they give me less options in the future as well.

Good post and very truthful.

I would've thought sony would have found some way to counter that, like an exclusive ps plus alpha/beta which starts days before the EA access early access.

That makes sense, I can see something like that happening.
