Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft's E3 Conference dominated social media

Protendo said:

We really should make an Xbox is the most tweeted "platform" thread every week.

Using the same method as the article:
(This method is incredibly biased. Xbox 360 is still huge in the US so using Xbox pics up all Xbox 360 results. Most people who tweet Playstation 4 use the abbreviation PS4 which aren't registerred using this method)

Using PS4 and Playstation vs Xbox, Xbox One, and Xbone:
(We won't use this method, as it doesn't suit the original articles agenda, this method is still has Xbox bias since the original Xbox and Xbox 360 tweets are included)

Now lets take it one step further and exclude by itself as it's picking up the original and the Xbox 360, and we will remove Playstation as well as it picks up people using Playstation Vita and Playstation 3

Credit to Jimbo1337 for reminding me to use Topsy to prove a point. As you can see more people use PS4 than Playstation.

So now we can make an Xbox vs Playstation thread where the Xbox One wins every time (that is biased) and a PS4 dominates Xbox One thread (which is also biased) every week!

Just to be thorough:

For comparison lets just look at "playstation" (used in the article) vs "PS4" (obmitted in the article).
(As you know the term Playstation also picks up Playstation Network, Playstation Vita, Playstation 3)

For comparison lets just look at "Xbox" (used in the article) vs "XBONE or XB1" (obmitted in the article):
(As you already know the term Xbox also picks up Xbox 360, Xbox Live and the original Xbox)

Why anyone would justify this thread is beyond me.

^^^ Thread.....

I think that says it all. Good work.

If you dont care about those things then no, its not silly at all. Especially when youre talking on a personal level. Hope that helps. Id read and reply to the rest but its obviously flawed based on the opening sentence.

Got it. If you, personally, don't care for something at E3, that means no one cares (let alone an overwhelming majority), therefore that conference "lost".

Guess Nintendo won E3, because some people don't care about Halo or Uncharted. Despite Halo and Uncharted being bigger news, objectively, than anything Nintendo announced.

Apparently you havent "got it".

Nowhere did I say that just because I think something that means everyone else feels the same way.

And Im sure for lots of people, Nintendo did win. And if thats their opinion, thats fine. Unlike you, that doesnt bother me.

Please refrain from quoting me again if youre just going to reach and put words into my mouth to make an argument.

People laughed at those that suggested FF7 would be shown (Idiots!) or The Last Guardian (Let it go. It's dead) or Shemnue 3 (Yeah right. In your dreams) ... and then it happened ... but:

MS won E3! Even though three fantasies came true.

Its amazing how people can have different opinions, right? I could not care less about FF7 or Shenmue 3, and only care a little about Guardian. So for me Sony had a Uncharted demo and Horizon. For me, MS had more than that. Plus awesome new features. New UI, BC, early access.

it's the same logic to say MS won because Sony showed stuff you, personally, didn't care for, even though an overwhelming majority care more for them than they did for MSs announcements.

I think this is one of the key points this thread is meant to be about.

In a post where you've called for Ludicrous to be 'objective' (already a bit strange given we're talking about games!), you've strayed from that goal yourself.

The statistics used in the OP do not appear to be all-encompassing. Others have pointed out potential flaws in the methodology used. But ultimately its part of a slew of evidence that positives/negative reactions to the MS/Sony conferences in general were not nearly as one-sided as a quick perusal of the VGC forums would lead one to believe.

@ those who are saying "MS couldn't have won E3, because its still being outsold."

If your metric for E3 victory is determined by the need for an abrupt and total realignment of console trends, you're probably wasting your time participating in threads like these.

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

More general comments about my personal preferences:

For me, E3 is mostly about new IP, and information on soon-to-be-available experiences. To this end I was most excited to see Recore and Horizon. Watching brief on Sea of Thieves, hopefully its a return to the Rare of old.

I did enjoy footage of Tomb Raider, Uncharted and Gears (this one looked like a nice return to the grit of the first Gears).

There are exceptions of course for my favourite franchises. I was super psyched to see ME. Unfortunately EA showed the absolute bare minimum, and announced a release window 18 months from now. Not unexpected, but still disappointing.

But ME is releasing in only 7 months from now! :)

And no, I don't care if you mean the less exciting and irrelevant ME.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Have to say btw, that Twitter breakdown by Protendo was a fantastic post, very nicely put together.
AAA+ would read again! #green thumb

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

If you had to compare any for twitter the only 2 relevent are "Xbox" and "PS4" as these are what most use, but it dosnt mean anything someone could of just tweeted "Xbox graphcis are crap" or "PS4 has no games". Thats not exactly any sort of hype or telling you someone won anything.

The 2 example tweets are not opinion and are just examples of how tweeting something doesn't lead to domimance on social media.
