Release some games? What games does the 3ds even have in japan right now that is a big system seller from Nintendo?

The 2DS released in Japan? I thought otherwise.

Anyway, I don't think there's much Nintendo can do to give the 3DS any more major boosts. They can definitely still pump out games so that it stays number one, but the days of simultaneous 50k+ weeks are over.

One thing I don't understand is why Nintendo hasn't released a 3D Land sequel or another 2D Mario. They used to release multiple 2D Marios in one console's lifetime and Japan loves 2D Mario.

Oh yea, I keep on forgetting that Japan gets everything a year early

20m people in Japan own a 3DS the's not much else that can boost sales over there as that's the most any top selling platform gets over there, even the PS2 finished at 23m over there. So unless they import gamers to the island to buy 3DS' its reached the maximum load.

huge trade in bonus for ds... trade in your DS, get 50m Yen(or what ever 50$ are in yen today).

there is still room if they go for those who arent realy interrested in upgrading, but that will be hard.

New IP like Splatoon and IP that 3DS didn't get until now

It'll be tough. It would almost have to be a new Mario like mentioned above or a brand new game that hasn't caused major boosts. We've seen Youkai Watch just get released and not boost the system even though it sold 700K opening week. Everyone who wanted that game essentially already had a 3DS.

I'm thinking new Mario is honestly the only thing at this point, there is 20M 3DS's out there already. I also like that DS trade in option.
