Forums - Sony - Uncharted 4 will NOT have pre-rendered cut-scenes.

Only thing I disliked about pre-rendered scenes was when I would have like a sniper rifle and desert eagle and then, boom, cutscene has me holding an AK and a 9mm.... not game changing but takes you out of it a bit. It will be a nice addition to an already beautiful game and the seemless transition between gameplay and cutscene means no slight black screen in between.

LOL Why? They need to go. It is way better to have everything in engoine instead of te jarring cut to a pre-rendered scene.

Just preference, but I don't know why you wouldn't like having better looking scenes and more realistic movement.

The movement should still be realistic because it will be mo-cap of the actors just like before. I'm sure the Uncharted engine is capable of a lot more than what you get in gameplay, so the cutscenes will still look better than gameplay. So doing the cutscenes in real time means no disc (or download) space used up with cutscene visual material, though al the mo-cap stuff will still need to be there, I wonder how much space they save? I suppose not hading HD animation as part of the game file does save quirte a bit of space. Could the UC4 download size be smaller than UC3?

Thats unfortunate. But then I guess they are expensive to make, and this is the way most games are going these days.

It's not about money, it's the opposite, lazy developers will make cgi/pre rendered cut scenes, good ones will make a cutscene with ingame graphics, so that's the opposite, fortunate

This is false, I take it you have never seen a Nauight Dog game before? Game engnes now are good enough to do it all realtime. Pre-rendered = immersion killer.

Talk all you want but my opinion wont change. I'm also not talking only about Naughty Dog games, but games in general

hm.. in the past I really loved cutscenes, they were a really cool way to celebrate the players progress, but in FF12+13 I felt a strong disconnect to those, especially in fast-cut action scenes

Uncharted had some of the better cutscenes with their (by game standards) enjoyable writing, but if their engine is good enough to deliver very similar quality in realtime it makes sense to do so and use more of the disk space for high quality assets/textures and what not instead of big video files

Lazy? Those amazing cgi cutscenes don't come cheap, or from a lack of effort. And they undeniably look better than anything in-engine, at least on today's available consoles.

I'd rather have pre-rendered man ass any day of the week. The more realistic, the better.

I personally think that the cut-scenes they've shown from UC4 look considerably better than most of ND's pre-rendered work on the PS3 :p
