Forums - Gaming - Sega is making a new console game and wants to regain trust from their fans

Let’s face it, Sega hasn’t exactly been in the best of places over the past few years. Sure, there’s the stellar Alien Isolation, but there’s also the Sonic games, and that spot’s big and brown enough to taint just about anything else from the company. One could justifiably think that the company just seems to actively hates its fans. Thankfully, someone at the company seems to realize this and is *saying* that they’re going to win back the trust of players.

Speaking with Famitsu, Sega CEO and president Hajime Satomi brought up the quality of their future games:

“I’ve been talking to the employees about how we should start putting serious consideration into quality from this point on, especially in North America and Europe, where it’s always been more of a focus on schedules, I believe that if we can’t maintain quality, it would be better to not release anything at all…We did our best to build a relationship of mutual trust with older fans of Sega, but looking back, there’ve been some titles that have partially betrayed that [trust]in the past 10 years.”

“Sega in the ‘90s was known for its ‘brand, but after that, we’ve lost trust, and we were left with nothing but ‘reputation. For this reason, we’d like to win back the customers’ trust, and become a ‘brand,’ once again.”

When asked about the possibility of seeing a new console game come out in the back half of the year, Satomi said that he couldn’t make that promise “for the time being, but I believe we will announce something for home console at Tokyo Game Show.”

Think Sega will stay true to its word? Tell us what you think they need to do to get back in your good graces in the comments below, and leave us guesses for what you think their big announcement will be at TGS.

Pretty sure this has already been posted.

But it's from an article that's merely 5 days old! How could that be?

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Reviving their beloved franchises and actually localizing games would be a good start but this is Sega, old habits die hard.

I misread the title as ," Sega is making a new console and wants to regain trust from their fans" and I thought HOLY SHIT 4 REALZ???

I feel like people aren't taking me seriously these days.

Who wants to be taken seriously when life is a comedy?
