The interviewer asks him along the lines of "You recently announced 4 million units sold in Japan, what does this mean for Japanese vita titles, will we see more etc. such as monster hunter?"

Shu says "I am not sure if we have announced 4 million..."

*Checks with PR guy, PR guy says no such announcement made*

Shu says "We havent made that announcement...but there are other organisations such as vgchartz who check this..."

(It was actually Media Create's article that mentioned 4 mill, but still nice to have a shu mention!)

This is very misleading.

He does not quote any VGChartz data.

What he says is that Sony have not officially confirmed 4 million PlayStation Vita sales in Japan.
Media Create recently showed 4m+ sales in Japan.
VGChartz seems to have done this as well.

Yoshida is saying that Sony haven't announced it and so he's assuming that the interviewer must have used some public tracking service like VGChartz. If anything he is saying it in a way that makes VGChartz seem negative as he is just brushing it off as something the average person will go to and quote as fact. Because Sony never announced such a thing publicly.

That's kinda cool lol

Wow! He knows what VGC is! :O
