Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo XDS ?

Probably fake, but very interesting idea, I think Nintendo will do something similar, but probably it will be larger device.

Around the Network

XDS? Is Nintendo making Microsoft's handheld now?

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

It's a nice idea but i doubt it will be exactly like that.

It's fake.

Pretty much where this should have ended. It may look kinda cool, but no way is it real.

The canned laughter was the best though.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

This is so fake it's insulting.

Around the Network

well, lets just evaluate and find all the reasons this could be fake:

-it immediately opens up with a view of 3 LED lights for Power, the adapter, and connectivity. Nintendo hasnt used 3 lights since the DSi and it seems unlikely they would do it again.

-the design seems very impractical. the edges are very sharp and Nintendo has always made handhelds with smooth curves. the new concept for the clamshell design would also leave the the bottom screen sunken and the device now loses speakers entirely.

-the screen shown directly after the XDS opens up has many give aways.
-the top screen is motionless
-the OS is identical to the Wii U OS but simply an older version.
-look closely and the top screen stretches slightly farther left than the bottom.
-the presenter speaks English and has an American accent but the XDS has a Club Nintendo icon, which was discontinued in the US

-HD resolution has never been seen on a handheld console before. its unlikely... simple as that

-on the "improved controls" slide, the top screen now doesnt stretch as far right as the bottom
-it also drastically reduces the circle pad's range of motion

-3D is dead so why would 3D recording be enabled?
-recording is highly unlikely to be built in. maybe for individual games, but not the entire handheld

-dont even try telling me this thing will be Wii U powerful. the cost would have to be around $700
-also those screens dont even match up to their TV-Gamepad existing counterparts. SSB has the main menu open when a battle is going on

-there is no latch at all when the screen flips around

-that Home button is based on the standard 3DS design and has since never been a rectangle

-i feel it needs to be said. 3DS games on the TV would be awesome, but what about games that primarily focus on the bottom screen? it would look ridiculous to play a 5 inch game with a whopping 50 inch menu in front of you.

-a 2016 release date would completely defeat the purpose of the New 3DS.

this is also just a brief note. We never see the back-side of the console which is something necessary at this point. we never see the triggers, adapter point, any cables at all, and even the cameras are removed from both sides of the system.

final verdict: FAKE

You are right about all things expect bold one, qHD resolution has never been seen on a handheld console before Vita...so I cant see why 5 years after Vita we cant have HD resolution on handheld.

Say Hi New 3DS :v

btw many of the other things you pointed out arent 100% exact but I'd like more people to talk about the concept than the actual video since many have stated it's fake

I think concept is great, especially if they can pull rotating screen (has been done for ages now on laptops), WiiU/3DS compatibility, good batery life and connectivity to TV.

This can easily sell very good as a hybrid console and leave them a lot of space to later launch proper 9th gen home console that is more traditional and 3rd party friendly.
