I assume Monster Kingdom = Monster Hunter, the big selling franchise for the PSP that is having it's installment moved to the PS3, yes? Last I saw on IGN's release list, it wasn't coming until late in the year to Japan.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma is an unknown. There's no telling how it will do in Japan. Hot Shots Golf 5 comes in July, and that should do good, hopefully as good as Gundam Mosou. But Lair isn't coming out in June, it's been delayed. PS3's biggest hope is Hot Shots Golf right now for the summer.

And in June, the Trusty Bell bundle for the 360 will come out, and in all likelihood, the 360 will outsell the PS3 that week. 360 software still sells better in Japan than the PS3, which is disturbing.


trusty bell doesnt even feature in the FAMITSU LIST of top 100.

it is coming out the same week as MONSTER KINGDOM (folk souls).

MK is at no 6 on the Japanese most wanted list. mInna golf at no 9 now

MK might even see ps3 zip past wii during that week.

and you are talking about Eternal Sonata which is hated by all japanese.

Until the next NPD figures... i.e. tomorrow. Then the PS3 will either dip below 100k, or get extremely close (105k).

The US is a much more open "cross-platform" market than Japan. Games like F.E.A.R, Spiderman, Oblivion (etc..) all sell in the US - even selling PS3 hardware (although they are available on all platforms).

The same doesn't apply in Japan. Its special, unique software that sells - or sequels to the IP's that are popular over there.

(also don't forget that the US is a larger market - unless something significant happens in May, the PS3 should drop below 100k in the US as well).

crappy old school NES games are more entertaining than next-gen games.

Be honest with yourself, if the fanboys wait until HSG comes out, and HSG fails to do anything and just provides a mere Gundam like temporary meaningless bump which is followed by the PS3 going right back down, will you REALLY cut them some slack? Or will you still 'lol @ teh hyperbole' while saying "at least wait until (insert another game here)". 

 

Seriously go ahead and answer that one for me. But beware, I have a very good memory, this board stores your posts, and I am plenty petty enough to through it back in your face later this year when you bust out the "Japan is going to go GAGA over LBP just you watch!". The only hilarity around here is expecting us to take that stale arse "wait until" crap seriously when N-Fans have been force feeding it to us the last 10 years. For the love of Jehova, make it stop.

No. No no no no no no. Hot Shots Golf is not gonna make a difference in the direction the PS3 is headed.

Take it from someone who knows. If Super Mario 64, Goldeneye 007, & Zelda: Ocarina of Time couldn't prop up Nintendo's position at the top of the market with the N64, what makes you think it will be any different for anyone else?

Those were some of the greatest games of all time and it STILL didn't help. Quality PLUS quantity is what makes a dominator.
