GT6 on PS3 looks sometimes better and more realistic than Forza 5 on Xbone... so I don't know what you talking about.

Your picture is from some GT4 imported track... show a pic from the new tracks for GT5/GT6.

Iv'e got forza 5 on xboxone and there is no comparison really and thats how it should be because forza 5 is a  generation newer therefore it looks considerably better. Go back and play gt6 and you'll see that practically ever track that has vegetaion uses  the cardboard cutout effect.

I am currently playing gran turismo 6 and while the cars look great (this is gran turismo after all) the enviroments look very poor even by 7th gen standards. Not only do the textures  look low res but they are still using cardboard cutout tree's and bushes, something i haven't seen in years. Ps3 may be really old but it can still produce gorgeous looking enviroments  so why the discrepency? why do some other ps3 games look like a generation ahead of gt6. I am not saying this for effect but apart from the upgrade in resolution enviromentally there really isn't that much difference between GT6 on ps3 and GT4 on ps2. Like i said i am talking about the enviroments, there is nothing wrong with how the cars look.

Update: This is what i'm talking about. Notice the cardboad cutout wall of trees.

Track and car are imported from GT4, while I agree that graphically Gran Turismo feels dated and, in my own opinion too "clinically clean" in almost all cases, using a worst-case-scenario screenshot to make a point without context of why the graphics in said shot are the way they are, is questionable at best.

If those pics are of it, then I'm going to go ahead and agree with you.

Gotta figure out how to set these up lol.

A couple of things here.

1. That's a GT4 important car and track. New cars and tracks from GT5/6 look much better, example:

Not PS4 or Xbox One pretty, but it certainly holds it's own considering the hardware.

2. Racing game enviornments almost always look bad, do we need to take another look at the crowds from FM5?

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

GT5 and 6 are very inconsistent. At their best they look really great, at their worst they look bad.

It basically comes down to which cars and courses have been imported from GT4.

I hope they do everything from scratch with GT7.

That's a rather poor excuse. Thank god Nintendo doesn't have tracks looking like GBA games in Mario Kart 8. If only SSBU was like Mario Kart 8 in that regard.

I honestly think that gt6 is an average looking game at best. I just recently played beyond two souls  and now playing this seems like a huge regression in graphics.

That is not a poor excuse.

Some tracks are created in PS2 age and ported to PS3... the assets, textures, etc are rater inferior what they used in PS3 tracks.

They have a choice to recreated all the tracks again but for me this was not needed... use the old tracks and made the new ones good and that is fine.

People can complain what they want but I still play with the old standard cars and play in the amazing old tracks in GT5/GT6... that doesn't hurt in any way the game... the opposite it is the king because these few things.

I don't remember them being that bad for PS3 standards. Below is an environment from Forza 5, on a new gen system, and has some of the problems you mentioned

That still looks infinitely better than the foliage wall you see in gt6.

I expected nothing less than a comparison to Forza 5 but already at the first page? Damn... But yes, comparing screenshots from games doesn't tell you much.
