Forums - Microsoft - Mortal Kombat head teases MK9 and Injustice for Xbox One via backwards compatibility

Hot on the heels of Criterion's Burnout tease, Mortal Kombat head Ed Boon yesterday implied that Mortal Kombat (MK9) and Injustice: Gods Among Us will also be heading to Xbox One, courtesy of backwards compatibility.

Larry "Major Nelson" Hyrb chimed in soon after:

MK9 released on Xbox 360 back in 2011 and features the same classic kombat and gory x-ray moves as the recently released MKX. Injustice: Gods Among Us released in 2013 on PS4, and Xbox 360, but never Xbox One. The DC Universe fighter won widespread praise and achieved decent sales, so to see it finally head to Xbox One is a a significant boon.

Got Injustice on PS4, but I do have MK9 on 360.  Wouldn't mind giving that game some more time, I pretty much beat the campaign but didn't do much of the extra stuff.

Injustice: Gods Among Us and Mortal Kombat are both only $4.99 each right now. Prepare for the future....

Mario Kart 9?? omgomgomgomg

Sometimes my head just produces wierd lapses of logic. I was all like: Why would the head of mortal Kombat announce Mario Kart 9 on Xbox? That lasted for about half a second until common sense came trickling in and the only thing to do was headdesk.
Anyways Mortal Kombat 9! YES!

Nice to know I'm not alone....

Seems devs will allow their games to be backward compatible on X1. I'd also like them to just keep the games on sale for cheap. This way you can go buy a 360 game and play it on X1. I also hope that MS will open old Arcade games to X1 as well. I never got to play Shadow Complex so I hope the game is available for X1 later on.

Hopefully we will get a separate section of the store for 360 games. I'm guessing we will see a lot of releases these coming years.
