I just hope it's not motion controlled combat. That's one thing that looked awful and annoying about the game on Wii U.

I don't believe I ever used motion controls for combat in ZombiU.

That wasn't required?  I didn't know that.  I remember the advertisements showing people swinging their controllers while fighting.  Seemed kind of dangerous given the price tag on those things.  I also remember a reviewer saying it got tiresome after awhile.

Um, the game doesn't have motion controls... I mean you can use the wiimote as a second controller for multiplayer but you can also use the pro controller

I know a lot changed between the game shown in the advertisements and the shipped product, namely features of the gamepad. I remember seeing motion controlled stuff in the ads but never once did I have to do it in the game, so I assumed they cut it out.

Almost all combat in the game consists of using your cricket bat to swing at enemies, using guns to shoot them and you can also push them away with your hands, all of which are done with buttons.

If there is an option to enable motion controls for these actions, I must have missed that (thankfully).

Um, either you or Ubisoft is wrong and I'm gonna have to go with Ubisoft with regards to their own game.

Oh you must be talking about the scanning on the gamepad... but you can also just use the joysticks to pan the view around.

Perhaps that's what happened.  I did follow the game when it came out but that's obviously been a long time ago.  I do remember a reviewer talking about the repetitive combat, though maybe it was just in general.  Again, that's been quite awhile ago.

Reviewers did complain about the repetitive action of the cricket bat, so perhaps that's what you're referring to.

Easy mistake to make regardless.

When you were forced to use the cricket bat that was pretty repetive, you had to punch the zombies at least 3 times to kill them I think. That was one of the few things I didn't like about the game, it's one of my favorite WiiU titles. I'm very curious to see how it is without the gamepad though, I loved using it in this game..

Oh wow. Yeah almost nothing in that trailer is from the game. The user interface is not even the one the game used. And the game has never prompted me to swing the controller. Yeah that is all pre-release footage and is not representitive of the final game.

Looking back over old articles about ZombiU, they only mention shaking the controller when a zombie grabs you, and that might have been from early builds.  Looks like they killed off motion controlled combat completely.  Smart move.
