Do you think that his punishment should be harsher, the same or lighter? | |||

Well he was only 16 or 17 when he comitted the crime. And he didn't do it himself, he was part of a group. And it did show that MS and Sony's systems weren't strong enough. It took MS a full day to fix it and Sony took a couple of days. |
In that case they should have held 50,000 consecutive max sentences over his head in order to compel him to make a deal to help find and charge his compatriots. Serving those sentences concurrently (let's say 10 or even 5 years) would be a perfectly fair offer in exchange for taking down the rest. But 2 years of a suspended sentence? They may as well have not arrested him. This pathetic display only empowers others to continue these shenanigans.

I suspect we'll be experiencing some more DDOS attacks in the near future by copy cats.

No one should ever be made into an example. Every person should be punished for precisely what they did--otherwise it's no justice system at all. I do agree that his sentence should have been harsher, however.
Yeah, this isn't finished yet:

It's important to note - he was convicted of crimes that had nothing to do YET with the PSN DDOS over Christmas (yes he was part of that)

and he still has 15 other criminal cases awaiting prosecution in Finland. I may go after his parents in Civil court too. Little dirtbag

Even though what that guy did was very wrong, as a CEO, Smeadley's comments are very unprofessional. And threatning a minor and his parents makes him look quite bad.
The punishment is missing one thing: sterilization. We don't need anymore people like him walking around.

Well, I hope that he goes to trial and punished for those other crimes outside of finland.
