Are you also taking into account the numbers of the user base when these games released?

I bought Sunset Overdrive when it released, I enjoy it also. I actually just received a bunch of weapons, and outfits for being a day one fan. it was quite a bit of items, seems that I was given all the different preorder weapons, and clothes from all the different outlets. i.e. Gamestop, Amazon, etc...

As well as the game scored and as much as X1 fans bragged about it, there were plenty of X1 owners out there for it to break 1 mil by now.  It is a shame because SO wad a really fun game.

Could already with digital.

I did not even think about that. Yeah the digital version of this game went on sale during the holidays last year. (I think the digital copy was around $38-$40) Honestly If I had known it was going to drop in price that quick I might have waited too. But I don't regret buying it, it is alot of fun for sure.

Definitely a critical flop and it apparently made Sony not want to invest in a sequel, I'd say it's a flop.

Definetely not a critical flop. Half of the reviews gave the game a 70 or more. The game reception has been polarized. Also more than a million sales is good. I believe Sony expected more but they must be crazy not asking for a sequel. RAD just has to fix what some didn't like, starting from the actual gameplay lenght.

You wouldn't have all the cool Day One gear though 😂

If you think for one second that Sony is not considering this game a critical and commercial flop then I don't know what to tell you.

And only a million for this game after how long it has been out is horrible, Sony probably expected the game to have sold several million at this point.

Sony not asking for a sequel is in no way crazy, have you paid any attention to the backlash this game has gotten? The Order IP has a horrible reputation at this point and it would take more than just fixing "what some didn't like" (which is a horrible understatement of what is wrong with the game btw) to change that.

I don't think there's a reason Sony wouldn't go for a sequel with a different studio, but not anytime soon. They're busy with Horizon and Uncharted, as well as helping Shenmue 3 and probably trying to secure FF7 exclusivity. They've got four big titles that we know about on their plate, and who knows how many more they've got under wraps.

It sold well purely from hype. The game was a comercial and critical failure hence why Sony told RAD to jog on

MS drops the price of their exclusives quite quickly this gen. Even the MCC was being sold for $40-$50 a month after it released. These days I only buy games on sale except for the big exclusives.

Been like that since Gamestop got huge. With all games except Nintendo I believe

Its hard to determine what sales a New IP needs to not be considered a flop without knowing the budget. I know some people think the game had some massive budget, but considering how short it was I tend to think it had a decent budget at best and they just put all of it into the presentation.
