Forums - Gaming - does water influence your decision to buy a game?

The issue here Rubber is that, once again, you insist on seeing the world from no view point but your own. I'm someone that enjoys discussing game tech, but in a shocking twist, i also enjoy talking about game mechanics, music, stories, and art.

My interest in one does not negate my interest in everything else. You're free to put no value in something as a point of discussion, but claiming that other's interest in it is somehow a "serious problem with video games today" is silly. It's not like tech discussions are anything new either. The internet just makes it considerably easier for people with shared interests to be able to discuss said interests.

whats wrong with discussing my point of view? this is the problem with the gaming industry "InMyOpInNIOn" (obviously)

people can read the OP and come to whatever opinion they want. whether they agree or disagree. youre completely discounting the way i see things as if im the only one here who sees things this way.

Because its called 'video' games.

Because they do matter whether you like it or not.

i see youre responding to the title that im not even responsible for. my topic has little to do with graphics as a whole. this whole thread has been spoiled.

The issue is that these types of threads rarely result in a discussion worth having, because the opinion you're expressing (or rather, the manor in which you're expressing it) is built upon the idea that the opinions of these people are an inherent negative to you, thus discussion is irreverent to the opinion.

I'm not discounting your base opinion, it's a perfectly valid one. I'm discounting your thread because it's built upon the dismissal of everyone else's. You can't create a meaningful discussion without considering the merits of those you disagree with, even if they're merits you don't personally value.

ok, i see where you are going with that, and i do agree with it for the most part. but i still feel like my original thread title is valid. its a problem with the gaming industry as i see it. by your line of reasoning, we cant ever discuss something that we think is a problem because it is going to discount opinions that oppose it.

i get trying to have meaningful discussions, but at the same time if you take it too far in the other direction, you strip a discussion of all meaning as well. there should be a meeting somewhere between the two extremes. opinions should be made and defended, and sometimes conceded if the person holding the opinion is persuaded (something that i have done numerous times).

You have still failed to provide a viable link between users discussing graphics and tech in games on n4g, and the actual games industry being at fault.

This thread is being locked for breaking multiple VGChartz rules. After discussing the with a few other moderators we have decided you are,
1. Using titles to bait/troll users and mods, which does not lead to meaningful discussion.
2. in your OP you criticize the mods for modifying your title/etc. All feedback regarding moderation actions should be directed here: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=191381

It is clear the intent of this thread was not to create an environment where constructive criticism on the topic can be had but rather insult others who opinions differ from your own.
