Forums - Gaming - does water influence your decision to buy a game?

Nice water means shit to me. I mean graphics are nice, but gameplay and story are always my top priority. Graphics are WAY down the list. I remember when GTA 5 launched, people said how "OOH, THE PS4 VERSION HAD MORE GRASS #GRASSMASTERRACE!!!" Both where 1080p, and the XB1 version actually had a slightly better FPS. When we start getting to the point where people have to talk about slightly better grass (or in this case water) compared to other games, its just sad. People can say how it makes the game more realistic, but who really cares? I mean I could still take PS2 graphics and enjoy the games. But whatever, people have their own opinions, but if graphics are your top priority, you should be in PC gaming.

Whoops! Looks like you have a whale of a problem on your hands!

In all seriousness nice feign bro. Good thing you brought more light to where this has been posted and stated exactly what you obviously don't want!

So a few people talking about how good water looks in some games gets you to think that there's a problem with the gaming industry? Really? Graphics may not be the most important thing to gamers but it is important none the less. The gaming industry is just fine and I believe that you're making a big deal out of something insignificantly small.

It doesn't matter what you think about it. If they're talking about it, then it's something they want to be talking about. People like discussing the finer points of any and all aspects of their hobbies, and none of it is more or less legitimate than the rest. If you think that's THE problem with the gaming industry, then I honestly don't know where you're coming from. We're all just in it to have fun, and that looks different for different people.

Moved, but I'm failing to see how people discussing which game has the best water is "a problem with the games industry", I'm going to need you to demonstrate a viable link or change the title.

the link speaks for itself, and other users who have posted on this thread have already touched on it. people are more focused on how good the grass, water, or sky looks rather than the functionality of the game itself. gamers are willing to accept broken games, on disc day 1 DLC, and season passes resulting in hundred dollar games as long as the water looks nice.

the more this kind of stuff happens, the more we are going to go down this path where we are willing to accept mediocrity in every department besides water physics.

but let me guess, thats not a good enough link for you because you dont agree with it? the link speaks for itself, and many people can plainly see it without me explaining it, so requesting me to change the title is a bit of an overreach seeing as its my opinion that this is the problem with the gaming industry.

edit: i just noticed the person who posted right after you did (super 6646) explained the link as well, so i hope its enough for you without forcing me to change the title.

you dont understand. i have to be very careful about how i approach these topics because of my history, so i have to make my intent 100% clear as best as i can. thats why i stated it so bluntly.

Such a vague clickbait title for a thread about...
Are graphics important in gaming? Sure if they were of no importance then we would still be playing on the ps1 since it was the first system that allowed huge media which would allow you for as big an open world with hundreds of hours of soundtrack if you kept changing disks.

If they were not important people would have 0 reason to move from PS3>PS4 since that is just an increase in polygon power really since there is little difference in controls or storage media.

Also you write " i know that maybe about 25 to 30% of you will agree with me" in the OP. I would add a poll if I were you, rather than extracting some numbers from where the sun doesn't shine.

Ok, I accept that your post history is shady. If you were worried about that you could have approached it differently. I see your intent but others may not

OT: I find technical aspects of games interesting. I wouldn't rate graphics as high as art-style or gameplay but the talking points still exist
