The Problem with the Gaming Industry Today:

First of all, I know I have a shitty reputation here for "trying to cause trouble" but i am saying up front right now, that this is not my intention at all. I am trying to start a discussion about something that I think is a serious problem with video games today and is a huge reason why i find myself losing interest in it more and more after every passing year. if this discussion gets out of hand, i urge whatever mod to identify where that happened and correct it rather than just banning me since i started the thread.

anyways, this is my huge issue right now, and i know that maybe about 25 to 30% of you will agree with me. There is this article that appeared on N4G i think yesterday, titled, "unnamed game video show awesome foliage and water puddles technology." I click on it thinking, really? how is this a talking point.

I look at the comments, and the first comment says, "I hope their water is as good if not better as GTA V. Because GTA V is the new standard of water in gaming for me." with people replying to that one discussing what games had the best water.

One person says, "I think this too. The water on ps3 GTA5 blew me away. It is better than the water in Witcher 3 i think but i can't put my finger on why"

Are these people for real? One of the hottest topics on N4G is about fucking water?

What do you guys think? Is this a legitimate talking point about a video game? Is this something that gets you excited about video games and buying new hardware?

(good thing mods are here to change opinions that they dont agree with. original title: "the problem with the gaming industry today")

Graphics are a valid forum topic about games.

I've always find funny that kind of discussions. Don't forget about the grass, it's also a hot topic XDDD.

Also Witcher 3 PC water is the best.

Why is this in Sony discussion?

Anyways, I think it's interesting to look at certain visual aspects of games and compare them but I definitely wouldn't talk about it as if it's a hot topic lol

Look at the backlash StarFox Zero got, for its graphics.

This stuff matters to alot of gamers.

People seem to care less and less on whether a game is actually enjoyable and more about the water/grass/sky looking nice

Your argument holds no water with me. I mean it isn't exactly a deep subject, but surely it is a far better way to stream our discussion as it avoids salty attacks, right? Sea what I mean?

My thoughts exactly.

Maybe it has to do with the PS4 being the most powerful console this gen, I guess?

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."
