What do you think? Some translation error here or is it an actual "epilogue continuation of where Warriors ended" that sounds like a sequel?

It turns out that Hyrule Warrior's popularity with Zelda fans was the reason why a handheld iteration of the action game is in development.

Speaking with Famitsu (via Nintendo Everything), producer Yosuke Hayashi cited the "positive reception" of Hyrule Warriors and Zelda fans calling for a similar game on the Nintendo 3DS as the motivator to begin working on it shortly after the Wii U game released.

During the early days of Hyrule Warriors Legends, the development team decided to feature The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker on the 3DS game, since it had previously been left out on the Wii U due to the difficulty of integrating its unique look with that of Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess, and others. Because it is a different experience and features a new style, Hyrule Warriors Legends on 3DS will be more of an epilogue to Hyrule Warriors on Wii U, picking up where the story of its console counterpart left off.

In addition to a new story and art style, Hayashi teased planned new character additions coming to the handheld version in addition to the King of Hyrule and Tetra.

I can’t go into details yet, but we plan to add new character(s) [can mean one or several] other than Tetra and King of Hyrule," Hayashi said. "There are fan favorites and surprising characters in the game, so I’d be happy if you kept guessing who will join the fight while waiting for follow-up information."

Hyrule Warriors Legends' development is about 60 percent complete andtargets a release window early in the first half of 2016.

Around the Network

It's a port with extra content. The Legends subtitle is a reference the "Xtreme Legends" release that every single Dynasty Warriors receives one year later.

Not a sequel.

"We'll toss the dice however they fall,
And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

The WindWaker story is an epilogue.

Still the definitive edition, as includes all characters + new and you can play as multiple character in the SAME missions, allowing for greater strategy and awesomeness, like in Samurai Warriors Chronicles.

I'm pretty sure that this is still a port, just with extra content and features.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

From what I've seen, it looks like a port to me..

You can also get The Wind Waker DLC stuffs on the Wii U version too :/

I hope they release the Wind Waker characters and epilogue on the Wii U version as a simple DLC purchase. Not really in to buying a worse version of a game just to play a few extra missions...

Personally, I hope that is the case or some sort of Amiibo or something that unlocks them after a patch.
