Forums - Nintendo Discussion - What benefits does Nintendo gets releasing the NX a year and a half after announcement?

Benefits of this practice

This is the Nintendo way 30 30.93%

More sales 6 6.19%

More games 20 20.62%

Nothing. They need to ann... 41 42.27%

Total:97

I feel like i'm repeating myself with all these titles on the same topic.

They dropped the core fans. They concluded they weren't worth it compared to trying to appeal to the casual market of those 100m Wii. Either that or they will find a way to connect the mobile market to the living room.
Either way, home console Nintendo fans just got the shaft.

It is sad to see how people underestimate how important consumer trust is. Consumer trust killed SEGA, consumer trust turned the PS4 into a huge sucess. It wasnt just a disastrous unveil from the X1, it was the PS3 having amazing games till its last year of existance while MS shafter the 360. These things make all the difference. A console purchase is an act of trust. You dont know what you are gonna get out of it, you have to trust the company that makes it. It is essential in this market and i am amazed that only Sony realises that.

one of the things they need to do it right, using DENA as a unified account system. Those VC games people who bought on Wii U (i doubt games bought in Wii VC), should be part of the digital move to NX platforms. why, this would help fans to be happy and they have those games and doesn't need to buy it again. Unless Nintendo is all about greed.

I'm sure this will be announced soon, for both 3DS/WiiU and NX. Nintendo can't simply keep pushing digital and at the same time have the games locked to the hardware instead of an account. As long as there is no DRM, it will be fine. Also, I'm sure they'll make a subscription based system (that doesn't block multiplayer).

do it right and an early start, but Nintendo should have deals with 3rd party devs behind the scenes. If the NX games at launch is similar to the Wii U but couldn't add 3rd party devs current games, just ports of 6 month of games then it would really be just a Wii U situation all over again.

That could prove more difficult that it sounds. The WiiU had a lot of current games that were cancelled (from Aliens Colonial Marines to Project Cars) or were released when nobody cared about them anymore (WatchDogs). The only thing thant can prevent that is similar power and architecture, and I have my doubts on that regard.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

I think it's coming out next year because the 3DS needs to be replaced and NX is the replacement for 3DS primarily (it acting as a console replacement is just secondary).

They will formally announce it around March 2016, then unveil games and full hardware at E3 2016, launch in fall 2016 with Zelda.

I will get nintendo's next system and that will probably be my last one. I want to end it were it began and come full circle.

not sure about the replacement of 3DS, there was a speculation that n3DS with face plates would also be coming to NoA. and with the list of 3DS games announced last E3. it got a good support of games.  I'm still thinking it would be launched at the same time with the home console. Late 2017.

If Nintendo is going to try the Fusion idea, they'll probably release both handheld and home console at the same time. Hell, they could bundle both versions for those interested, maybe with a couple of games as a reward.
