I'm sure a price cut is coming. Sony is clearly very between models right now though. I think they're using Europe to test the 1TB to figure out if a price cut is necessary, and are launching the new PS4 in Japan first just because the Japanese market is the least receptive to any home consoles right now.

I would expect a price cut by Fall. I'd say Holiday, but I don't think they'll wait that long since they're pushing out new systems now.

US is the single largest market. Dominance here helps them block XB1/ win their own deals WW. It's easier to localize to one language for NA/UK than to many in the EU.

What did MS pulling away last Christmas accomplish? I know the media and certain posters like to laser focus on Christmas but Sony laser forus on the whole year. They really don't care if MS catch up at Christmas because they always widen that gap throughout the rest of the year. Only a desparate company are willing to lose millions of dollars at Christmas just to 'win' in ONE territory.

Most probably by replacing the 16 memory chips of 512MB by 8 chips of 1GB, by doing that they surely have included a smaller and lighter PSU. Mass production of those began in january.

I also don't understand Tachikoma's post. Or maybe some 2.5'' HDD could not be installed in the PS4 somehow, because a bit to big?

PS Get's more sales in Europe than it does in the US. But it's shared out nicely.

Who else would it be aimed at? Only a hand full of well off zeolots will replace their PS4s for this.
