Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo: We didn't want to show "wonderful footage" of Zelda WiiU and disappoint fans at E3

People keep posting stuff Reggie says and act surprised or make all the same reactions... but I think you all should know by now why Reggie says this stuff to begin with.

If you don't know what he's doing, he's basically telling people something to try to calm them down, because the real reason would likely not be as effective on the average person. Do you think Reggie cares about people like us, who knows this isn't true?

I think you underestimate how informed the kind of gamers who would bother to read this news are. If you're online reading an article about a statement Reggie made regarding Zelda, chances are you're informed enough to know it's bullshit.

No, I don't think so.  People here are absolutely not representative of the majority.  I think you overestimate people in general.  In fact, there are even people here who don't know well enough to know that it's not true.  Many people also come across these articles without having to actively look them up as well.

It just didn't make sense for them not to show it when we've ALREADY seen it...TWICE! I mean, if they hadn't shown it last year or in December, then I could understand not showing it again since it'll likely be a Holiday 2016 title. But considering that we've seen it twice...there's absolutely no reason for them not to have shown it, other than that they didn't want people to realize how far along it is and make it obvious that the only reason for the delay is that they're going to dual-release it on NX and Wii U next year.

Upcoming Games To Get

Definite: Kirby Star Allies (Switch), Mario Tennis Aces (Switch), Fire Emblem (Switch), Yoshi (Switch), Pokemon (Switch), Kingdom Hearts 3 (PS4), Monster Hunter World (PS4)

Considering: Fe (Switch), Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze (Switch), The World Ends With You (Switch), Ys VIII (Switch), Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition (PS4), Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Remix (PS4), The Last Guardian (PS4), Shadow of the Colossus HD (PS4), Anthem (PS4), Shenmue 3 (PS4), WiLD (PS4)

Y'know I'm not going to kill Nintendo over this.

It's fairly obvious they are likely planning to make a NX version, so they can't show it now. Better to just stay quiet about it.

But there's not a lot they can do. People can get upset, but company-wise if that's the direction they're going then it's the correct business move. I know fans are going to stomp their feet and get angry, but it is a business at the end of the day.

Dual releasing TP on the Wii launch window was one of the smartest things they've done in the last 10 years. You will enjoy the game one way or another when it's released, but for Nintendo this is likely their most expensive game project ever, they can't just screw around with it and let it release on a system with such a lower userbase.

It's either that or massively cut the budget/scale of the game down probably, but the fans probably don't understand that either. Some times you have to be the "bad parent" even if the kids aren't going to like your decision.

Also not burning a "real" Animal Crossing game on the Wii U ... again 100% the correct business decision. They need games like for the NX/next-gen portable launch window, Wii U is a lost cause market wise.

This. All of this. Thank you.

yup. Also should have had Splatoon news in there and some of the mini Smash direct in there too. Nintendo really messed themselves up by not keeping this stuff to the Direct. And omg FAST racing. That game looks awesome. I thought that game deserved its own segment instead of some lady who never made a game or designed anything knitting yoshis.

Exactly. Who the f*ck thought we'd rather see some chick talking about knitting or Miyamoto yapping on about shrines and foxes rather than this

It was the best game they showed but both the other consoles have better racing games out already.

Good god Reggie, stop that.

Nintendo is coming up with classic quotes left, right and center. First Reggie's opinions on VR, then Miyamoto's opinion on graphics of games other than the ones Nintendo makes, now this. And all this after having a terrible E3, making some Wii U owners like me question ourselves for why we purchased a Wii U. Nintendo needs a new face and a new management cause with this kind of logic they are ruining a company that makes classic games.

By comparison Sony and Microsoft had the games at E3 and consistently praise and congratulate each other while also praising Nintendo. Too bad Nintendo doesn't give them back the love.

Oh and that reminds me of Reggie's comment on PS4 and XB1's launch lineup, calling them "meh" before they were released while both consoles became runaway hits at launch.

Phew, what a relief seeing as how successful their E3 turned out.

That's my point, the "majority" are never going to see this interview anyway, it's only the super-hardcore like us will, the kind of people who can smell his bullshit a mile away.

Debateable; the racers available on PS4/X1 so far seem pretty mediocre to me. I'm not sure they even have any futuristic racers.
