Yes, you have to buy it for both systems. Those games are ported. XBO BC runs on emulation software. Minimal code changing needed for the most part.

This is not true. Cross-buy means your one purchase on a platform gives you access to the game on every platform.

Cross buy is better than BC. And yeah. A lot of the PS+ titles are cross buy as well, so if you move from PS3 to PS4, you already have a lot of games.
