Forums - Nintendo - Zelda U on E3 2016 Sounds Really Odd... Hear Me Out On This!

Tagged games:

So, right after the Zelda delay Nintendo stated that it would be skipping E3 2015, which it really did, and that they would talk about it more next year. It sounded strange at the moment, but now when I think about Nintendo announcing/showcasing the NX at E3 2016, it sounds even more strange!

I mean, how would this work? "Hey, guys, look at these NX games, and also look at our fan favorite hardcore game, Zelda, releasing on... the other console!" It would be a negative marketing for the NX. It would lessen the incentive to move to another console when one of your best/biggest games are on the old console,  and even at the same timeframe probably!

This makes me think that the 2016 NX would either be the handheld version, which wouldn't be impacted by Zelda U, or if the 2016 NX is indeed the home console version, that Zelda would get a port to it.

I don't know, this situation sounds really strange. Guys, what do you think?

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

It's coming to NX, this is pretty much guaranteed.

Didn't they already do that once? I thought they showed off Skyward Sword right before it's release, and in the same conference, showed off the Wii U for the first time

Im in the camp that NX is handheld unless Nintendo tells us directly otherwise so Zelda is Wii U only.

No they showed off Skyward Sword well before the Wii U. They showed that game for about 2 years before it was released if I recall correctly :P

They did, but it was completely different moment/phase. They were confident, and also Skyward released in 2011, while Wii U just in 2012. If what people are supposing is right (NX releasing in 2016), the impact would be much bigger than Skyward's, cause Zelda U would also be releasing by the end of 2016.

Nothing strange about it, Zelda will be formally announced with trailer and all at some point BEFORE E3 2016, then at E3 it will get its release date, which will be holliday 2016, along with whatever else wich pretty much doesn't matter, Nintendo will present the ''NX'' to the world but that's it, just so you know how it looks and what they want to do with it, hoping you can keep it in the back of your mind for a little more time wich should not be that hard, then at E3 2017 the NX will be formally announced to be coming Holliday 2017. And that is not a prediction, that is the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.

Simple: NX as a console isn't gonna be at E3. It might be as a handheld, but they won't reveal the console portion or talk much about it at E3. This is the last strong year the 3DS will get but the Wii U still has next year.

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

Yeah, this makes sense, would be just like the Wii U reveal. If done right, I would like this approach a lot... and I guess it could work out.

I have been pondering this since the NX announcement. They said they will be giving information on the NX next year. That doesn't mean it comes out next year, even though we all hope and want it to. Also it was ensured that Zelda U will come out next year on the Wii U.

We all keep thinking that because Nintendo has been mishandling the Wii U and rarely releasing games for it, that that means Nintendo has abandoned the Wii U. There is a difference between abandonment and struggling to releases games on their first HD console. Our views and expectations as Nintendo fans are often delusional and overly hopeful of the realities.

I love my Wii U but like others, I would rather see the new Zelda release on the NX exclusively in order to see Nintendo realize their ambitious idea of an open world Zelda title. I would rather see the huge scale and pretty visuals on the next console but I don't really see it being cancelled to in order to take advantage of the NX hardware. Plus from what we seen... It's amazing that the game can run on the Wii U. I think we may very well see it release on both consoles in the way Twilight Princess did. If it was cancelled for the Wii U and exclusive to the NX then many gamers would feel betrayed and Nintendo will be called out for excessively lying about Zelda U. This would be HORRIBLE press for the company.
