Forums - Gaming Discussion - Sony still not pursuing backwards compatible for PS4.

It only works for MS, cause they can increase transference from 360 to One, BC doesn't make any money at all.

What if they... I dunno... sold 360 games on the X1 market place?

Kinda like how Sony sells PS1 and PS2 games in the PS Store.

We better buy an Xbone to play Xbox 360 games. Assuming you don't already own an Xbox 360 and Xbox 360 games.

Sony isn't trying to keep up with the Bones'

Of course not, then they wouldn't be able to sell "remastered" PS3 games at retail price.

As already said the ps4 simply isn't powerful enough to emulate ps3. The 360 was much simpler architecture and will still need patches to make each game run on xbone.

Personally I would be really happy with ps1 and ps2 compatibility. The ps4 is easy powerful enough to fully emulate ps2 and could do so with upscaled 1080p graphics no problem and other graphic filters to enhance them visually and wouldn't even require patches. There are many fantastic ps2 games that would be great to play again. I still have a collection of about 30 ps2 games, the favourites I just couldn't let go of. The ps2 gives absolutely terrible video quality with modern flat screen displays.

I honestly don't see why the ps4 doesn't have built in ps1 and ps2 compatibility.

People complain about Sony remastering old games to play on a new console. Check
Swear they're tired of playing old games and want something new. Check
Complain about not having backwards compatibility to play old games.... What kind of shit is that?

I never complained about not having backwards compatibility.

Not saying you personally, just in general.
Was waiting for a good chance to post that.

if you already own ps3 games... then shouldn't you have a ps3? And 40% of ps4 owners didnt own a ps3.

At least you once had. If it dies, you have to buy the console again.

Who is "we"? It just makes the transition easier. I guess it's not seldom that people have huge digital libraries because of GwG and digital sales. Of course, if you have a clean backlog, that perhaps doesn't mean so much to people. But the sheer amount of games many have, conveniently accessible via one interface, one box could be tempting to many.
