why would any of the companies drop the price of their current gen machines at E3? it's way to early in the year for that - you want it's effect to last throughout the whole holiday season

the last gen consoles are pretty much done selling, the quantities have dropped a lot and lower unit count produced means higher price per unit, so I'm not sure they will even see another price drop - some of you might not understand that, but those components don't just automatically get cheaper and cheaper ad infinitum just because much more potent hardware is out

Sony won't have a press conference at Gamescom this year, I think the most likely date for a price drop is their conference at the Paris Games Week 27th of october

No, e3 price cut announcements are typically desperation moves. Normal price drops should be just prior to the holidays to grab that holiday buying attention. I don't think anyone is in desperation mode right now, and I think we may possibly see PS4 and Wii U get a price drop announcement in September.

Though if Nintendo is really kicking Wii U to the curb and launching something new in 2016 then they would be disinclined to drop the price as revenue per unit is more important that increased install base at this point.

I still strongly expect a price cut for PS4 before the end of the year.

Hmm, I guess the only possible price drop would have been the Wii U and Vita. Surprised the Wii U didn't get one. I guess they're not throwing in the towel just yet. Though I do think the Vita is dang too price. It needs to drop in price.

Guess they were just really keen to keep the whole show rolling forwards towards the bright future of the PS4 than to take 5-10 mins to slow things down and talk about the less than stellar Vita/Ps3 sales situation. Worked well for them imo, they can talk about their less than main stage platforms not on the e3 stage.

Depending where you live you should check out second hand stores, CEX here in Ireland sells ps3's used for 90euros with 12 month warrenty. Can't really beat that for cheap Cell processing power :)

Price drops now when the systems are selling enough would be shooting themselves in the foot profit-wise. They'll all probably have some good holiday deals.

For me, personally? I already have a PS4, Wii U, 3DS, and Vita TV, so price drops don't affect me a bit. For the fence-sitters, just wait until November.

nope those that thought this gen would be over soon (2018-2019) are in for a big surprise

also if there is a price cut for any system now would not be the right time to announce it wait till the holidays
