Forums - Gaming - Why Does so Many Games Release in Fall?

Taken from one of my other threads.

This here, is the release schedule for each and every game released for Playstation 4 and Xbox One in 2014. See what I mean?

Jan-Apr: PS4 (31) - XBO (13)

May-Aug: PS4 (47) - XBO (26)

Sep-Dec: PS4 (102) - XBO (73)

This is totally ridiculous.

Imagine if we could somehow even it out, so that every month/week during the year we would have something amazing to play.

A lot of games have already proven, that you can still sell A LOT of copies outside of Fall.

Last Of Us kind of shows you can release a game in March and do really well if your game is good. Infamous, Titanfall, Splatoon(maybe) Markio Kart, Bloodborne, Watch Dogs etc shows that it doesn't matter what time of year you release your game if you've got good marketing or the game is good it will sell well.

Stop releasing your games at one point in the year, we play games all year round you know guys (yes I'm looking at you MS)

There's only 2 races: White and 'Political Agenda'
2 Genders: Male and 'Political Agenda'
2 Hairstyles for female characters: Long and 'Political Agenda'
2 Sexualities: Straight and 'Political Agenda'

Holiday season is the time for buying.. and a great time for releasing games

This is exactly what I was trying to get at. Thank you.

I wish they were spread out more......

Its getting too crowded. There are so many weeks without big releases but publishers still like to release their games at the most competitive time of the year.

Sales, i assumed.

It where most people shop for other people. It has been spreading out slowly as the years go by but it's still influenced heavily by holiday season targeting parents.

More income during fall I guess....
