There are still so many questions I have regarding the character skins.

1) If the character is hit, do they revert back to Mario, or do they still keep their new form?
2) Do other power ups, like the Fire Flower stack on the Mystery Mushroom, or will getting one just make the player Fire Mario?
3) Do you get to actually choose which character you become, or is random each time?

I guess we'll find out in September!

This is the perfect exemple about how to use amiibos. It's just some skin, with cool fanservice, this isn't content locked behind a figure.

You mean now people don't have a reason to complain like they would otherwise.

True, but you know... the I hate amiibo because it's $15 DLC thing :p

From what I saw in the demo, it looks like tapping the amiibo lets you create the Mystery Mushroom for that character in the level... so even if you don't own any amiibo, if you download a level online that used one, when you get the Mystery Mushroom you'll turn into the appropriate character.

But I wouldn't really call this DLC either because you can access them without the amiibo.

SMB 1 form only for all costumes.

Mario Challenge Mode sounds like fun. It's not too bad for content to be unlocked via Amiibo for "free" if you can unlock it in other ways, a bit like the Subspace Emissary for Brawl.

Whoever wrote that press release is awesome though.

I wouldn't even call Amiibos in general $15 DLC in the first place, but I understand why people do..
