Forums - Nintendo - What has Nintendo been doing for the past year?

I laught so hard when people said they are moving to NX, so please tell me what is the NX? handheld? Home Console? or Successor to the Wii U or 3DS? since you all people are so sure about it!.

Lets just think about what was shown at E3

Metroid BS

Star Fox

Mario Tennis

Zelda 3 Sword Adventures

Of those, only two were made by Nintendo, and none of the two was the only game that looks like time may have been spent on it (Star Fox U). So what the HELL has Nintendo and Monolith Soft been doing for the past year? Was every single freaking team working on Zelda U?.... What the fuck.

I was not aware that games that were not newly announced this E3 were not being worked on nonetheless. I guess games like Xenoblade, Splatoon, Fire Emblem, STEAM, the Zeldas, etc. worked on themselves?

Well they are. And it looks like it going to be a home console of some sort.

"Speaking to Eurogamer at E3, Metroid Prime series producer Kensuke Tanabe said that due to the amount of content such a game would require, it would probably take several years to develop.

"If we started for Wii U now, it would likely take three years or so. So it would likely now be on Nintendo's NX console"

Nice find.

EAD Tokyo: Captain Toad (released 6 months ago), Majora's Mask 3D (released 4 months ago), unrevealed 3D Mario game (still in development, likely for NX)
EAD 1: Mario Kart 8 DLC (released 2 months ago)
EAD 2: Splatoon (released 2 weeks ago), Animal Crossing Happy Home Designer (releasing this year), Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival (releasing this year)
EAD 3: Zelda TriForce Heroes (releasing this year), Zelda Wii U (releasing next year)
EAD 4: Super Mario Maker (releasing this year)
EAD 5: Star Fox Zero (releasing this year), Miyamoto's projects (releasing soon, little information for now)
SPD: Codename: S.T.E.A.M. (released 3 months ago), Xenoblade Chronicles X (released 2 months ago), Devil's Third (releasing this year)

*takes a breath*

Intelligent Systems: Codename: S.T.E.A.M. (released 3 months ago), Stretchmo (released last month), Fire Emblem Fates (releasing next week)
Hal Labs: Kirby and the Rainbow Curse (released 5 months ago), Box Boy! (released 5 months ago)
GameFreak: Unannounced Pokemon game (releasing next year, likely for 3DS)
Monolith Soft Tokyo: Xenoblade Chronicles X (released 2 months ago), Project X Zone 2 (releasing this year)
Monolith Soft Kyoto: Splatoon (released 2 weeks ago)
Retro: no game announced; DK shipped 18 months ago

Oh look, practically every single Nintendo studio is in active development of a game releasing this year or next year or has just released a game within the past six months.

How can you ask what the hell Monolith Soft has been doing for the past year? They were finishing making Xenoblade X. It just released two months ago. Uh, duh?

denial! they dont want to feel foolish that they bought a console that got a short life?

Well, to be fair, I don't think anyone was planning out it having a short life. But like I've said many times before; pissing off some fans versus staying in the game is an easy choice and all signs are pointing towards a replacement very soon. I'll stick with holidays 2016 for new hardware.

same it might slip into spring 2017

I missed the Nintendo e3 because I had to go out for that hour. Just a quick glance at these threads made me decide not to even bother watching it.

I hope they redeem themselves with a decent Direct soon, packed with stuff that should have been in the Digital Event.

Wouldn't it be better to move Xenoblade to NX.

I say to move all future games on NX but to refund also 10 million console owners * 300 $ =  3 billion $

This

So it seems like the only two studios unaccounted for are Retro and GameFreak. It seems like this E3 made everyone forget about games released beforehand.

They're obviously focusing more of their teams on making NX games now
