The funny this is for the last few years I've seen people asking for a Metroid game that let's u play as the Galactic Federation, now we have one and everybody cries about it.

I didn't know people were asking for it, but I believe the biggest problem with the game is the art style. If we had gotten the typical Metroid art style, everyone would accept this as a worthy spin off. The actual co-op gameplay looks decent enough.

The game actually looks interesting. Will keep an eye out for it. I'll upgrade to the new 3DS if its a good game. The e3 presentation didn't do this justice. I'm glad they have treehouse.

I understand the games are shit but petitions are going to lose their significance if people keep making them whenever they see something they don't like.

Canceling this spin off won't help the development of a main entry in the slightest. Unless Next Level Games is making that too, which I doubt.

Yep.

i normally dont approve of petitions along these lines, but they make some good points. it honestly does feel like nintendo has been cheating us with multiple cancelled metroid projects cancelled and then this game being announced. when Blast Ball was shown at the NWC nobody saw it as a metroid game. i was certain it would just be a small eShop game with a few different game modes. basically, this game has nothing to do with metroid and should just be scrapped.

for comparison, imagine if nintendo made a new game in the style of a dark, action platformer featuring brand new protagonists, like a new IP. now imagine them calling it "Super Mario Bros: Federation Force" when mario doesnt even appear in the game.

no need to cancel a game. gameplay is about 70-80% complete anyway or even more. hence they have it ready for 2016.
i believe the main series (prime) is also in production and would have its trailer/demo in a year or two.

anyone know if this is retail or downloadable?

Nintendo will go to the mobile market and leave us fighting with ourselves.

We, hardcore gamers are the worst target audience in the world.

Do you think casual mobile users will ever get this angry? They dont even know what Metroid is. lol

There's no need to add a hypothetical dimension to this. Metroid Prime has been one of my favourite games of all time since I first played it. Occassionally a I set aside a weekend to replay it and 100% it, it's sublime. I loved the sequels. I am seriously disappointed that there's no core Metroid title on the horizon.

But on no planet is an expression of my disappointment that equates to "cancel this game because it's not what I wanted" justifiable. Like I said, if people don't like it, and don't want Nintendo to try Metroid spin-offs in this manner, then there is the clear option of not buying. I'm adopting a wait and see approach to Federation Force.

If fans want to express their disillusionment, they could attempt something far more positive than "This game is an atrocity, cancel it". Seriously, atrocity? That's the language being used? Do they know what happens in the outside world? Set up a kickstarter, letting Nintendo know it's there to guage interest in Prime IV. Start a social media campaign calling for development on Prime IV to start, instead of demanding Next Level's game be scrapped. I'm as disappointed as any Metroid fan, but I'm not going to behave like a spoilt brat and lose all sense of proportion.

Your logic is a refreshing thing to see after all the disillusionment and childish reactions.

Like you said, it is one thing to be disappointed by this game, but the reactions are petty. The energy being used against this game could be put to much better use.

I still think it is silly to write this game off after the first reveal. Nintendo is bound to elaborate on this title further, and those who are detesting the game now might actually like what there is to be shown. I have already heard people react positively to the Treehouse showing of this particular Metroid title.
A wait and see approach is definitely the most logical.

The problem here is that Nintendo has let the Metroid franchise fall into irrelevancy. Fans are expressing their anger in a very 'internet' way. It's hard to believe that Metroid was actually one of their big three franchises back in the day, especially the way they've treated it recently. I feel like its time for us fans to move on, Retro Studios is not the same studio it once was; much of the talent left after prime 3 (7+ years ago).  Moving forward, the best move for Nintendo imo would be to return Metroid to it's roots, in 2D.
