Seems no matter what MS does, bias always wins.

MS: Here's backwards compatibility, remasters/collections, favorite IP sequels, new IPs, Indie support, and VR doing something different then the competition.

No Kinect, no COD (which Sony had), and all time was dedicated to game, except for Hololens, which people were atcually excited about.

Sony: Timed exclusive FF7, confirming The Last Guardian still exists, funding Shenmue 3 which you can't play until 2+ years later, timed exclusive 3rd party DLC

Off course this is a oversimplification, but I really want to talk about this. Sony is banking on nostalgia (which MS too) while leaving 2015 with next to no big title releases, with Uncharted Collection being the headliner.

Well...yeah.  How is one meant to be "objective" about what games they are excited about?  People have different tastes and these companies often appeal to those market's bias.

Even though FFVII is timed exclusive, the damage is done. And it is most likely PS4/PC only anyways just like the original, and it'll sell more on PS4 too.

Microsoft used the conference as a reminder of things we already knew.

Do you really got surprised when Forza, Halo or Gears were announced?

Sony captured the spirit of E3. What Microsoft did could have done any other day of the year.

Yet Uncharted 4 is seemingly a big part of Sonys conference, which we allready knew about.

Sure MS did the trifecta Halo, Gears, Forza. But we got two new IPs, a 30 game for $30 Rare collection, and did what we all thought wasn't going to happen: backwards compatibility.

The biggest points from Sony IMO are a TIMED exclusive FF7 remake, and repackaged a 2009 announcement for 2015 with The Last Guardian. They merely confirmed the game still exists, while leaving the rest of 2015 in the hands of 3rd party deals. Please help me understand why Sony won over MS.

how come so many of you think that sony had the best E3?

1. Shenmue III: kickstarter campaign just got announced. release date TBA, probably 2017
2. Horizon: just got annonced. release date TBA, probably late 2017
3. Final Fantasy VII Remake: multiplatform, remake and release date probably 2016
4. The last guardian: was announced first in... i can´t remember since it´s so long ago. release date 2016
5. Uncharted 4: this was the only "bomb" if you ask me. awesome gameplay shown. release date probably 2016, but still awesome gameplay

but where are the bombs for 2015? there were exactly ZERO bombs for 2015 which if you ask me is a disaster.
microsoft has Halo 5, Forza 6, Gears of War Remake, Tomb Raider (won´t release any time soon on playstation - if ever), Fable Legends and even backward compatibility all coming 2015. this is from an objective perspective a very strong 2015 line-up presented at E3. The big hitters for 2016 are saved for Gamescom (Scalebound, Quantum Break,..).

for me this E3 was more like sony giving a glimpse about future projects and microsoft about delivering games for this year.

microsoft seems to have a really bad standing here on the vgchartz community. this is really funny you know - because would have sony delivered 2015 games at their E3 presentation and microsoft had talked about 2016/17+ games only, you would have probably slaugthered microsoft for having no games this year at all.

anyway, this is just my perspective.

Its becasue  gamers care more about FF7 remake and or S3 then they do the entire MS 2015 holiday line up.  Personally id gladly take F7 remake over MSs entire line up of 2015.  Dont care when or why or how long the wait, Final Fantasy 7 Remake is happening.

Its freaking FF7, its like getting to nail aphrodite.

Ever hear of people vote with their hopes not their realities.

^^ pretty much this. Just because there are a number of games coming out, doesnt mean they appeal to people more than something more exciting further along.

  • Halo - Big if you like Halo.. but reveal wasnt that impressive - was outshone by Doom and SW Battlefront
  • Gears of war remake - great if you like gears - (we care about remakes even if we slate the competition for making remakes)
  • Forza 6 - another forza, great if you purchased the others, but not exciting if you dont
  • Tomb Raider - The game I am most interested in... shame the reveal was quite boring..they didnt show it off that well. (note its a timed release)
  • Fable - really looks poor - Just evolve in a different skin
  • New Rare Game - Assassins Creed but with worse graphics and presentation was lacklustre - online game (gah).
  • Backwards compatibility - that ended up being their biggest announcement, and I think that says it all. Great if you want to play lots of old games (I certainly do), but surely if they are criticising companies for making remasters, all they have done is give access to old content... to me that's where they have falled down.
  • Recore - interesting trailer but just CGI
  • Day Z guy - a game that's not a game - no gameplay
  • Hololens - fake presentation on a product with no release date and no cost, and according to people it's focus isnt for console anyway
So ultimately it's what interests you, but I dont think it was that impressive.
For me, having watch all shows except for mot of Nintendos (not my scene): the best presentations/games were
Doom 4
Horizon
Uncharted
No Mans Sky
SW battlefront
Fallout 4
That Firewarden game (sorry cannot remember the name)
Xcom2 Stream
Ghost Recon
As you can see a lot of third parties, because ultimately they make the most games. The problem for me as well is you watch how much fun SW Battlefront looked or how exciting Uncharted was, Gears and Halo just looked more of the same.

Those are games that +thousands of fans been begging for, for nearly a decade. Sony delivered, and captured the gamers spirits.

At least, from all the forums I checked out, the consensus is that Sony had a better conference then MS. Usually the PS4 guys are all about ripping apart MS's focus on COD, Kinect, or PR missteps, but this E3 is more quiet in that department. They are just focusing on what Sony did to win, and not basing that win on MS missteps.....because MS actually did a great show. On a internet that is seemingly dominated by PS4 fans, I'll take that as a win from the Xbox camp :)

Please tell me how exactly. What did Sony do that made theirs better?

They presented long-awaited games (TLG, FFVII RE), and some very impressive visual experiences (UC4, TLG, Horizon), as well as securing some exclusive content (COD, Destiny) and some exclusive 3rd party games (Square enix games).

MS also showed some of those items (not all), but in lesser quantity.

I agree that these items we'll need to wait to get them, but they were properly demoed and that means they're officially coming.

All they did was confirm that The Last Guardian still exists.......they made a 2009 announcement repackaged for 2015. FF7 would be huge....if it was a PS4 exclusive. It is timed and therefore posed no big "win" then Tomb Raider does for Xbox.

3rd party DLC is something MS did for years....and was criticized for. Horizon was a great surprise, but MS showed Recore and Sea of Thieves. The new IP reactions are all subjective, I get that, but it ain't like MS was a slouch in new IP announcements. We know Uncharted and TLG would be gorgeous, but it aint like Halo 5 and Forza 6 were lacking in their presentations either.

The big things Sony showed are all 2016 and later while 2015 will have Uncahrted Collection as their sole heavy hitter. MS has a stacked 2015 lineup and is doing backwards compatibility.

Given my response, I look forward to your reply.

This is not a discussion about which console has more games releasing in 2015. That was already stablished with previous threads showing that PS4 was going to get around 4 times more games this year than XB1.

This is a discussion about who won E3.

E3 is not to beg people to buy your console in the holidays, its about the feeling of gaming. Its about surprises and new games. Sony delivered.

Microsoft for what they are did a fine job.  They just don't make games for me.  I don't care about Halo, Gears or Forza at all. I don't fault them for making them, but I also cannot say three games I'll never play help their cause with me.

For me Sony made a wish list and nailed three big ones in one show I had given up on.  They truly did something special there that likely won't happen for another decade.

Off course this is a oversimplification, but I really want to talk about this. Sony is banking on nostalgia (which MS too) while leaving 2015 with next to no big title releases, with Uncharted Collection being the headliner.

But E3 isn't just about what happens in the next month. That excuse to downplay any conference is laughable at best to me.

And you calling out the bias is doubly laughable, to put it gently. We all know who you are here.

Here, I will add to the Sony part your wrote, which your bias made sure to leave a lot out:

The Last Guardian, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Final Fantasy VII Remake, Dreams, Firewatch, World of Final Fantasy, Shenmue 3, No Man's Sky, Morpheus and RIGS, Uncharted 4.

While MS had a very good show this year, no reasonable gamer is saying otherwise, the magnitude simply wasn't of the scale of Sony's. Sure enough, Sony has Square-Enix to thank for part of that. But Sony is responsible for Shenmue 3, since they've confirmed they've been in talk with Yu Suzuki to bring it back and now it's happening. While most of those games won't come in the close future, Sony did a great job in reassuring people that the PS4 will deliver big time. And besides, a lot of that content is set to come out in early 2016, which isn't that far away. So again, the argument that E3 should only be about the games that release for the holiday of the same year is nonsensical.

It is not bias for Sony that make me say they won. While they had a strong show with Horizon, The Last Guardian and Uncharted 4, if Final Fantasy VII R and Shenmue 3 had been announced at any other conference, that other conference would have won for me. But since Sony announced those, and since they are responsible for Shenmue 3, there simply isn't any competition in my book. Because I have been waiting for those games to be announced for over a decade. Sony made that happen. So they win this time for me.

But FF7 doesn't belong to them....no more then Tomb Raider belongs to XBox fans. Still find it difficult to believe that Sony saying The Last Guardian still exists counts as a megaton.

But hey, if that's what you guys want, then more power to ya. But in all that glamour, they kinda left the rest of this year in the hands of third parties, while MS has a stacked lineup and is bringing backwards compatibility.

Guess what I'm trying to say is that MS used to be criticized for leaving some years barren only to focus on the next one, as well as relying on third parties. MS is announcing 2016+ things, but also giving us things in the near future. Sony is banking on the idea of what the future will bring, while taking it easy now just because they are the market leader. Just my persepctive, but ok I see your points.
