We saw last weekend the power of Nostalgia at work with Jurasic World.

The crowd of Japanese gamers that made the console business so big in the 90s and early 2000s have to feel just as nostalgic about the game as we in the west do.

I think many of them will be interested in the game, and as a by product thier interest they will take a look at consoles again.

Its not going to send the market back in time to PSX/PS2 days when consoles were selling 20-30 million in that market, but it might give the market a nice shot in the arm.

The Japanese don't care too much about remakes. Previous Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest remakes manage over a million over there (maximum).

Maybe. If all DQ games got remakes for the PS4, then yes.

When is it coming out? In 3 to 4 years it won't have as much as an impact as tomorrow.. Mobile is already gigantic now by then its a titan

It's gonna sell many PS4s by itself. The FF7 fandom is intense here. There's already buzz among people (anecdotal, of course).

That said, it's not gonna make PS4 sell like PS2 or anything like that.

I just don't think the Japanese like playing at home. If you've actually been to Japan you begin to understand why console gaming is not a big thing there.

If handheld gaming could produce decent 3D graphics back in 1997 ... who knows, consoles may have declined back then too.

does anyone realy think this will work? they didnt made a good ff in 10 years(or when ever x came out).
and even if they can make another great ff, a 7 remake is the worst possible choice, they have to spend 200m and push the ps4 realy to the limit to get even close to the effect ff7 had on gamers.
they should have went with a ff9 remake, the game isnt on every console, smartphone and pc and it would work alot better in hd.
