Okay during the Square Enix conference, they mentioned that the PC port of FFVII was still going to be released for the PS4. So with the remaster coming, does that mean they are going to do a reimagining. Update the graphics, and gameplay to look like current Final Fantasy XV Duscae? Seems odd that they would release both, and only upgrade the visuals on the remaster.

They should keep it turn based. They already have enough action RPGs as it is.

Personally I think the best decision would be to not only leave everything the way it is to a fault (besides the graphics and sound quality obviously), but to not even have voice acting. Just let Uematsu's music fill the emotional voids, because it damn sure did even more than that with the original.

The original soundtrack provided such a specific and cerebral experience. Emotionally evocative on every level, even fear. Trail of Blood and Those chosen by the planet come to mind the most.

Well remake suggests they're going to completely remake it, but this is Square so you always have to be a bit cautious. We'll find out more in December, which I'm assuming is when PSX will be.

It means that the remake is at least 3 years away..

Yeah, I think it should be kept turn based also, but something deep down tells me they will use XV's resources and engine to make the new one an action RPG.

well there are purists who like the original state of the game  - the newer PC version (there was an old PC version during PS1 days - that's the version of the game I played and it had worse backgrounds than the PS1) is a remaster, with higher res assets, but unchanged game/gameplay

the new FF7 will be a remake on a current gen graphics engine with totally new assets/new char designs - they might change parts of the gameplay aswell, but I think they won't make it toooo different to the original
