Forums - Nintendo - Satoru Iwata is Taking Opinons of digital event seriously, will work to meet expectations

Good, they needed to cut the bullshit, the filler, and the unnecessary moments out and just give the fans more to be excited for. This was Nintendo's worst presentation in years. I think they could have gotten the majority of what was featured in the Smash Bros. presentation into E3 and they would've benefited from it.

Last year Nintendo "won" e3 by announcing a bunch of games that would not be released for another 1 to 2 years. Like Zelda, Yoshi's Woolly World, Xenoblade and Star Fox. This year Sony "won" by announcing a some games that would not be released for another 1 to 2 years, namely Final Fantasy VII Remake and Shenmue III.

I do not mind that Nintendo only showed games that will be released before next years e3, but I am worried about the amount of co-op games Nintendo making. All the new games showed had some sort of multiplayer. Nintendo also recently announced a new Wii U game made by treasure that would have four player co-op. I am worried that great Nintendo single player games of my childhood will remain in my childhood, just as good Final Fantasy games are a thing of the past.

That's all they really can do at this point. Less talking more games, and more games people want to see put in a couple of surprises and you have a winning formula to E3.

Indeed. Iwata-san, I thank you for your hard work with the Mother series, but like Ultrashroomz, I am not giving you a free pass. Results are needed to restore faith. Repeat what you did at E3 2014 and we will be satisfied again.

Either way, make it happen Iwata-san! I will be rooting for you!

I hope you read this Iwata and keep in your mind next time you decide to choose the projects:

It doesn't matter the format. Being a Nintendo Direct, a Digital Event, a live Press Conference or a simple PR what really matter is the content. We Nintendo fans, the ones that bought the Nintendo 64, the Nintendo GameCube, the Wii and other pieces of hardware, had many expectations on your first HD console.

All we asked was great games that showcase the power behind the Wii U. And by power I'm not talking about only graphics, but also new creative gameplay ideas.

All we asked was a great Super Mario 3D succesor in the same vein as Super Mario Galaxy or Super Mario 64, a new Metroid game, a new The Legend of Zelda, a new Fire Emblem, a new Paper Mario.

If you are not capable of developing us that, better tell us than doing empty promises and filling us with cheap games nobody asked for.

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Sony showed games that will come next year, and maybe even 2 years from now, but they also made a huge presentation for the games coming this year (both first and third party). Even if Sony stuck to the games released just this year, they still probably would have won due to them announcing the ps4 as the main platform (securing marketing rights) for black ops 3, assassins creed syndicate, star wars battlefront, destiny, batman, disney infinity, no man's sky...

That happened last year, don't know how the decided it to go down like this for e3 2015.

Was thinking with how they bring themselves to E3 really cost them a golden opportunity this year round, When MS rolled out the X1 at E3 along with its drm and forced Kinect Sony were right there to absolutely take every dig and jab at 1-uping what MS had laid out infront of them.

Nintendo this year created that digital event obviously days/weeks in advance of when E3 was on, so when MS dropped a megaton that was maybe 1/8th of the library of the Xbox360 working with BC on the X1 then Nintendo could have jumped onto that to at least 1-up some part of one of their competitions show by showing just how much of the pretty incredible Wii Library is compatible with the Wii-U hardware or how many of the DS's 1500+ games work on the 3DS... but alas Digital event was all recorded and submitted, clinical and uninvolved with the whole E3 show that was going on really, was such a missed chance imo.

I hope that Iwata moves fast and puts the Wii U on a course correction and goes back to producing some quality titles.  Unfortunately, I think that it may be too late now because it takes Nintendo at least 1.5-2 years to make a decent HD game.  If they haven't started now then there just won't be time before the NX comes out.

Maybe if Iwata is serious about meeting expectations of fans he will make a few of the early NX titles multi-plats just to throw a bone to Wii U owners.  I'm not sure how similar the NX and Wii U architectures will be but maybe if we get a true HD Metroid in 2018, Nintendo can release a Wii U version of it.
