Forums - Microsoft - Capcom Granted Special Permissions for XBLA Size Limit

http://uk.xbox360.ign.com/articles/858/858829p1.html Both Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix and Bionic Commando Rearmed will exceed 150MB. Thank you for listening, MS.

Now that they have made two exceptions, they should just get rid of the 150MB limit altogether.

We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps

We have a real culture of thrift. The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games. - Activision CEO Bobby Kotick

Has anyone figured out why there is a 150 meg download limit for games only o.O?

From 0 to KICKASS in .stupid seconds.

Indeed.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

Its there to help small companies and smaller publishers.

Konami could just make Mgs4 fr xbox live otherwise and demolish small budget games. This way its a level playing field

Also it concentrates games on being fun rather than graphics, intros and such...its like "make a fun game under 150 megs or release it as an actual store bought game"

This is what Arcade used to be like...fun.

Good to hear that MS caved on Bionic Commando. I knew they did for SF2HD.

........Now this needs to become the standard so we can see bigger, better origional IPs, and maybe some ports of classic PS1 games.

Disolitude - I find your comment about "smaller games used to be fun on arcade" ...........Yet you have a Alucard Avatar (atleast I assume it was Alucard) - which is the reason that the limit was even expanded in the first place. Bigger-sized titles 'got us Puzzle Quest, Rez HD, SOTN, and other REALLY GOOD games. I'm not saying bigger is always better, but there always need to be exceptions to the rule. It's not like every game that comes to XBLA now is over the 50mb level - look at N+, it broke the lowest size for XBLA games (if memory serves me correct) at 16mb.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

It's supposedly so people with an Arcade/Core can download a couple of games onto a memory card, but people who are going to be downloading games hopefully know that those games take up space.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

I agree mrstickball...exceptions should be made. And I'm glad they raised the limit for those 2 games as both are highly awaited by me. However I like the policy of a size cap as games can't hide behind what I call the EA gloss. Amazing presentation and graphics but completely talentless games that will get more attention than games such as N+ and Undertow...this is not key.
