Forums - Nintendo - Could Ryu in Smash be testing ground for a more diverse input system?

I think these diverse inputs are just a special case for Ryu.

Ryu's fighting game, Street FIghter, as well as many traditional fighters, feature complex button inputs to pull off sick combos.

The ability to do these complex inputs to pull off moves (and even get rewared for doing so) seems to be a homage to Street Fighter, and fans of SF as well.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Hopefully that is the case, because it could be a more interesting if more characters can do this

No.

Nope. It's what we, in the biz, call "a gimmick."

I hope so, I find SSB too basic. Id like it to have a combo system similar to ps all stars. Probably the only good thing about that game was the awesome combo system.

Yeah, in Smash 5 they'll be using this new system. Every character will also have a tome, a Levin Sword, Pikmin, a Luma, a Nana, a KO meter, three different movesets that change out when neutral B is pressed, the ability to absorb other players' moves, the Monado, Tippers, Counters, tether grabs, a motorcycle, a tree, a bowling ball, and 24 alternate costumes, 12 of which are designed to have Miiverse support to create the unique designs. Also it will be Mario Maker and launch on mobile phones in 2018.

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

It could be the next evolution of smash bros. If fans respond well to ryu's playstyle, it very well may be.
