It's all the fault of third party developers. It is a fact that the WiiU is in the same threshold in terms of power to Xbone and PS4, that Nintendo has always catered to the most loyal videogames fans which in return has assured them a big and reliable fanbase to which third party devs can sell a  lot their games, third party devs do not need much effort or money to make any port, and that Nintendo fans do not complain at all in regards to gameplay and art direction of third party games, what makes every possible release for said system a release waiting for success but never taken advantage of.

So third party developers are to blame entirely.

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

Because PS4 and Xbone. You choose those for 3rd party content because their systems allow 3rd parties to do whatever the hell they want without worrying about gimmicky hardware and a foreign OS. Just let it go. They don't sell enough, end of story.

Ask the developers..... If the situation really is what you're describing, then I'm sure they'll still be supporting the WII U up to this day.

Because these things cost money to develop and the publishers want to make a profit.

There is this thing called opportunity cost.

A wii u port is not exactly big money so if they spend their time porting instead of working on something that could bring in more money they "loose" that money.

well i do know the german game developers "piranha bytes" who are making rpg games called risen. Those games usual sell around 200-300k copies and are released for pc and console. They have voice acting in their games, own enginge, porting cost to consoles, marketing cost, motion capturing, localization and co. And the games are pretty huge.

The developer team is around 30 people.

So if they are doing profit with making complete new games + porting them to console by selling the same number as a big  blockbuster sell on wii u (even if thats poorly comparing to ps/xbox) i cant see why a wii u version wouldnt make profit to be honest.

There is like no way a wii u port of assassins creed would be more expensive as a compelte new game with all the included costs like risen 3.

well they could use extern studios.

Too obvious, third party games are selling bad on Nintendo platforms and Wii U have small instal base.

This discussion has been had a thousand times in here. Nintendo fans will say that 3rd parties are to blame and the others will say that Nintendo are to blame.
The truth is likely somewhere in the middle or so, but no one will agree and people will start getting angry and then get banned.

And another day has gone by on vgchartz.
