Twitter exploded with news of a Smash Bros leak early this morning. While most of the attention is being lavished on the two new characters this leak unveiled, there’s much more to it than them: Mii skins of the Virtua Fighter characters Akira and Jacky (as well as Tekken’s Heihachi, which is the outfit on the left).

What’s really interesting about Akira’s outfit is that it is literally his model from the first game, complete with the old school, flat-shaded, segmented polygonal limbs. Jacky, on the other hand, seems to based off of his appearance from Virtua Fighter 5.

Of course, it should be noted that these outfits have not technically been confirmed by Nintendo, but given the size and breadth of this leak, not to mention the simultaneous release of the above in-game outfits and in-game victory movies and renders of the leaked characters that are obviously real, this confirmation is likely only a matter of waiting for tomorrow’s Smash Bros Direct.

One interesting implication of these Mii outfits is that it means SEGA’s crossover with Smash Bros no longer ends with Sonic. Could another all-new fighter be in the cards? We’ll just have to see.

Interesting, but I hope it's not true.

Don't get me wrong, more options to customize our Miis is always welcome, but we're talking about SEGA. I wouldn't be surprised if they do this to promote Virtua Fighter only to later (at TGS for example?) reveal a new game for PS4 and XboxOne.

Well Nintendo seems to be down with promoting characters from titles that arent their system(Ryu), so this honestly would be believable,cynical as it may be

At least the 3DS got a Street Fighter game. I don't even remember the last Virtua Fighter game on a Nintendo console, or if there has ever been one.

Hey, there's always a silver lining.

Even if that happened exactly as you described, there's a positive... If Nintendo doesn't mind effectively advertising for games on other platforms, then they'll be a lot more open to having Banjo-Kazooie in Smash. And maybe Lemmings, too.

Interesting... Smash is turning out to be the ultimate videogames all-star fighter, instead of just Nintendo characters' all-star fighter.

Now you're just going too far. Nintendo using characters from thrid parties that may or may not use Smash to advertise future launches is one thing, but using characters from Sony or Microsoft is another thing completely different.

They are "building bridges" with Third Parties but they are also competing with Sony/MSoft.

Man, assuming this is real, Smash is really trying to bring in all these references and crossover material! :o

But you see, it actually works in both directions.

Yes, Nintendo fans will be more exposed to those characters from Sony/MS... but fans of those franchises will also be more likely to get Smash, and therefore exposure to a heap of Nintendo franchises (and having bought the system, they'll be more likely to then buy additional games for the system).

Mind you, I'd much rather see Yooka-Laylee in Smash than Banjo Kazooie if BK remains owned by MS. But then, I'd also love to see Nintendo buy BK back from MS.

If we're getting Tekken characters can we also get Soul Caliber characters? They should make Soul Caliber Link a different character for the lulz
