Well if you think about it one really doesn't have to be too surprised about the japanese milking their games, they really got some experts for that over there.
I think Dark Souls and Bloodborne alternating would kinda be pushing it but would still be at the edge of acceptability.

I wonder how well this sub-genre is going to hold up. Between a fair few imitators popping up recently and now the main studio who developed it working overtime,

Gonna be interesting to see. It's been going from strength to strength, so we'll have to see.

Eh, naw not really, depending on the franchise the japanese are still far ahead. Look at Yokai Watch for instance or the Musou series and all its spinoffs. Pokemon as well.

Don't agree at all. Staleness has nothing to do with frequency. If the game is good, the game is good.
