Forums - Nintendo - What will be the big holiday title(s) for 3DS in the west?

Don't think it will have one. Nx will be the next handheld in my mind and it's coming next year. No need to waste a major title on a handheld nearing the end of its life

1) I seriously doubt NX is a handheld as Nintendo has had a lot of success with the 3ds (and all its models) where as the Wii U drastically needs a replacement much sooner.

2) I also seriously doubt Nintendo would launch the New 3ds models to be around for just a year, with one game specifically designed for them. The New series was Nintendo's way of extending the life of the 3ds by allowing Nintendo to do Wii level remakes on that device (games that can be ported for cheap, in a quick fashion, and appeal to the masses).

Has that series ever been localized?

Not to my knowledge :(

Pokémon, easy.

Pokémon.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

A Nov/Dec 2016 for the next handheld would give New 3DS a little over 2 years in Japan and just under 2 years in the west, pretty much the same amount of time DSi was on the market before 3DS came out.

It seems like Mystery Dungeon is the Pokemon game this Holiday. Z/X2/Y2/whatever will come next year, to coincide with the 20th anniversary. Just my guess, Game Freak could surprise me.

There will be at least one N3DS exclusive, no telling what it might be. With Fire Emblem, Bravely Second, and Yokai Watch all coming next year, I do wonder what Nintendo has planned for this Holiday in the West. They must have a game, because none of the other potential localizations are really big enough to lead the charge come Nov/Dec.

*shrug* maybe it's just Pokemon, after all.

Perhaps they think Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon+Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer combo is big enough, along with discounts/bundles and some smaller titles from 3rd parties. Honestly that's better than 2012 which was basically just Paper Mario in the west.

Oh well not like I'll be hurting for a new 3DS game.

But with E3 next week, we will probably find out what they have planned for later this year, perhaps they have a big surprise for us.
