Forums - Gaming - Valve is ‘not exhibiting’ at E3

You know how Egoraptor used to make cartoons, but now he just spends all his time on Game Grumps, because it's a lot easier and makes him way more money? I feel like Valve is like that now. They used to make games, but they found it was a heck of a lot easier and way more profitable to just sell them. They're pretty much just "The Steam Company" now.

that's actually a pretty good comparison, I couldn't have put it better myself. Though Egoraptor still makes animations, but they're mostly about the content in his channel. Valve also still supports it's online games and they just might release more games in the future.

I used to hold Valve in such high regard, but other than steam, what do they even do thats really relevant anymore?

Perhaps when Source 2 comes out, they might show off a new game to show off what the new engine can do. When or what that will be is a mystery.

Yeah, there's always the possibility of new stuff...  But I think that just makes it even worse for us fans!

I honestly think the game everyone wants Valve to make next simply won't work. The gap would be too long and It inspired many games in the genre. If it's the same, then will be a bad game and everyone would hate it. If it's too different, then it'll be a different game and everyone would hate it.

I don't think Valve will even do games again (well, maybe MMOs). They are all about Steam now.

Edit - beaten like a Magikarp. Yeah, I guess the general feeling is pretty much the same.

I love mysteries. Hopefully this means Valve would make new IPs or expand on their existing ones to show the engine's capabilities even if it was for just a handful of games. Their philosophy in game development was simply pretty good for the time.

But I need that Left 4 Dead 3 announcement.

Going to continue with not surprising. They have absolutely nothing to show. Maybe they could do a conference on why every time i start the steam client. It has to update something and restart.
