This game is THE reason for those who keep claiming Nintendo re-hashes and doesn't make anything new, etc. They have just dropped the mic on every other stagnant shooter out there.

Splatoon is really a BIG reason to buy a WiiU, is just brilliant and insanely addictive. Is already one of my most played games on the system ... I can´t stop.

Note: Before you understand this wrong - Wii U is a good console with awesome games, no doubt. But I am missing features like recording gameplay or a trophy (or something else) system on Wii U. Wii U feels exactly like Wii imo. To answer the op - Spatoon is not THE REASON to buy a Wii U, but it is a good exclusive game.



Good games are reason for owning a system, if people are ignoring a system despite it having good games then that's sad.

I've witnessed people who weren't considering a Wii U play Splatoon and immediately they wanted to buy one. It's one of those games you have to play to fully understand.

I actually love Miiverse so much (especially with Splatoon, it has such a vibrant community).

And the GamePad is the next-gen (really current gen) feature in my opinion. Nothing else even really tried for innovation (at least with home consoles, the handhelds did well).

I can see where you're coming from. But the Wii U does bring new stuff to the "game", not so much in raw power or the other things you mentioned but in other means it does =)
Anyway that's your opinion and everyone is free to have their own opinions.
If you do have any interest in the Wii U however, and find one at a good deal it's worth considering. If it's not of interest well then it's an easy choice.

I myself am debating whatever to get a Vita or not :p

Great to see people enjoy Splatoon so far and even consider it the reason to buy a Wii U this year! I'm hoping Xenoblade Chronicles X and Mario Maker will be two more reasons to buy a Wii U this year (and it looks like X already is for Japan).

It's certainly one of the strongest reasons to do so.

It's so f*cking addictive. I can´t seem to stop. I'm going to be honest, this week's weekdays have been a lo harder to go through. I'm just wishing for the day to end so I can go home and play.
