Forums - Microsoft - Pre-NPD: Microsoft Expects To Trail In February

If the difference between the two is 10-15k units, does it really matter which one sold the extra ones?  That number is totally inconsequential in the grand scheme of things.

If that was the whole story it would be. But when you look WW, the PS3 has already outsold the 360 outside of the US, and continues to outsell it 2-1 or more. If the 360 cant atleast sell on level wit the PS3 in the US, it has NO CHANCE WW. Its also indicative of which console is more highly in demand, even after the 360's best possible year yet.

10-15 is a big deal, because it shows a trend against the 360, in a year where the PS3 has a huge lineup and will match the 360's online capabilities for free.

In total sales 10-15k doesnt matter, but the fact that the PS3 is winning with higher price and "less AAA games" is a horrible sign for the Xbox360

I think the point is that a 10-15k "lead" would be too small given margins of accuracy to even call it a lead. It is really a tie unless one console is a clear 40-50k ahead of another.

Agreed.  Especially when NPD's are for America, where there's a 7 million install gap, like that other guy said.  10k ain't squat.

The only numbers that really matter are with big huge titles like when Halo 3 came, or when GTA drops, or MGS4 maybe, though I'm in the camp that syas that spike won't be as big as some think, and then the holiday numbers from late October through early January.  Beyond that, we're see peaks and valleys for all the systems in the natural run of supply and demand and a couple good games sprinkled throughout.

Like when December NPD's were coming, I was drooling to see the numbers.  February?  meh.

Can't we all just get along and play our games in peace?

It will be funny, reading this thread 6 months from now when the 360 is outselling the ps3 each month. and oblitterating it's software sales.
(spelled oblitterating wrong)I think)

And that's the only thing I need is *this*. I don't need this or this. Just this PS4... And this gaming PC. - The PS4 and the Gaming PC and that's all I need... And this Xbox 360. - The PS4, the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360, and that's all I need... And these PS3's. - The PS4, and these PS3's, and the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360... And this Nintendo DS. - The PS4, this Xbox 360, and the Gaming PC, and the PS3's, and that's all *I* need. And that's *all* I need too. I don't need one other thing, not one... I need this. - The Gaming PC and PS4, and Xbox 360, and thePS3's . Well what are you looking at? What do you think I'm some kind of a jerk or something! - And this. That's all I need.

Obligatory dick measuring Gaming Laptop Specs: Sager NP8270-GTX: 17.3" FULL HD (1920X1080) LED Matte LC, nVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M, Intel Core i7-4700MQ, 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3, 750GB SATA II 3GB/s 7,200 RPM Hard Drive

I think in 6 months we will be reading threads about the new XBOX "720" (although I really hope they dont call it that!)

Really though, i dont think the PS3 or 360 will really "pull away" in sales.  I think the PS3 will do better in Others and Japan and in the US it will be close through this generation.

Ah yes, supply shortages... yeah, that'll clear up confusion for the investors.. Microsoft just can't manufacture enough of them..!
